Yes I had the test last year and was found to have bowel cancer.

Because of the various scans I had to undergo it was also found I had Neuro Endoctrine Cancer.

I have since had a bowel resection and gall bladder removed.
I am now clear of bowel cancer.

Co-incidentally I saw my Neuro Endoctrine Consultant today and he discussed with me the treatments available.

I would urge everyone who is invited to take this simple test done in your own home.

It has saved my life :)

Yes I did mine last week Rosalyn and received reply this morning that everything is normal, thank goodness.

I wasn't keen at first, but once I got 'things' organised it was simple to do.
Mau

Glad to see you Jean.xx
When I was in two minds about actually doing the test, I thought about yourself and others, and that is what convinced me to go ahead!

I've just completed my test - I call it the "s**t in a box" test!

It did take some weeks for me to pluck up the courage, and to complete the test (which can be tricky - lol) but I've had an "all clear" back in less than a week so I'm glad I did it.

Can I therefore encourage anyone who has received an invite to participate to do so - it aint nice, but absolutely necessary!

I live on Wirral and my husband and I have both done the test (my husband after a bit of persuasion). My smear was clear but they found my husband had a polyp which was a bit difficult to remove. The first biopsy was clear but the second had cancer. However everything now looks clear and he does not need any other treatment but will be monitored periodically. The treatment we both received was first class and all the staff involved including Macmillan nurses who looked after me as well were wonderful. We couldn't have had better treatment if we were paying.

Please, if you get the opportunity to do the test, don't be squeamish it could save your life.

Don't think they are offering it here in North Wales but I had a colonoscopy instead.............. Dad died of bowel cancer in 1983 and Mum has been treated for rectal cancer over the last two years, (successfully I may add.... fingers crossed). Myself, two sisters and brother were all tested on the advice of doctors....all clear thank goodness.

Mum was treated at Clatterbridge Hosp. on the Wirral with pioneering treatment, internal, direct radium . probe plus cheamotherapy treatment. Kept her hair, lost loads of weight she couldn't afford to, very tired for months after but now seems as fit as a fiddle at 77....probably fitter than me.

I had a sort of kit thing to use which came to all over 60s I think, and mine came back clear, I think anyone who doesn't use the test kit is daft, so easy to get checked out, why risk anything worse?

Waves to all on this thread ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm nudging this because I think it is so important.

It's great to see quite a few people have done the test.

The hospital where I had my treatment is absolutely choc-a-bloc
at the moment with people who have done their tests and been referred back for one reason or another.

The majority of positive tests are because of polpys in the colon which are easily and painlessly removed but if left can turn cancerous in years to come.

I can't promise you a beautiful Italian Consultant but from my experience everyone I had contact with showed me nothing but
kindness and concern for my well being.

Yes, like Julia I live in Hertfordshire and had mine last year, and it was clear......

I did wonder if there would be an outcry from the Post Office though because of all the specimens going through the post.....
