Stevie, you were a Punk Rocker ... did you use soap to stiffen your hair?! (Had a friend who was one)

I remember many years ago during my punk days. A punker rocker I knew, spikey hair, studded belts, the works. Was knocked over in the park by an old lady on her bicycle. He broke his sternum (breast bone), she was OK though.
Fair to say he was ribbed for a longtime afterwards. :o))

Oh Havoc, I am so sorry your OH was hurt, how dreadful.

Cutie, to be honest, tis similar here ... on the other hand, I sometimes forget and walk on the cycle path.

PME ... my son's bike was stolen, tis horrid not to be able to leave something ...

I'd have been happy to pay road tax, eco-friendly mode of transport so it would be next to nothing :-).

I will admit there are some idoits on cycles out there, I am probably one of the few cyclists whose been spotted yelling at other cyclists for there bad/idiotic behaviour.

Where I live the mirrors would be nicked/broken (as my bikes left chain up during the day in an area the public can access, the day I forgot to lock my front tyre up was the day I lost it) although I do check my blind spot regulalry, cause if a car hits me I'm going to loose.

If there brakes don't work in the rain they their tyres are flat/brakes loose or a dangerous combination of both.

we have cycle paths along side a walking path

cycle paths have a pitcure of a cyclist ,and the walk path
has a pitcure of people walking .
But that doesn't stop a cyclist from comming over on to the walk path
which they inverabley do . i was walking along the walk path last summer on the prom and had one man shout his mouth of at me
so i calmly told him to shut it and that i was on the walk path ,
well what he said i cant repeat on here . the trouble was he thought he owned it .
then on the other hand you have children in the summer playing on the prom and some of these cyclist just zoom along i have seen children knocked over cos they are on the cycle path

We have cycle paths where I live

During 20 yrs of driving, I've got two cyclist to my tally. Both were their own fault.
The 1st decided to turn right without looking or signalling. He ended up with his face pressed up against the windscreen before sliding off the bonnet when I screeched to a stop.
The 2nd a couple of yrs ago when one idled up to aroundabout at 4 mph in a world of his own. I kept behind him..... think he's turning left......yes he's still going left......def going left. So I went around him, giving him plenty of room....at which point he turned right & cycled into my rear nearside wheel. He was so shocked he screamed like a girl!

I'll hasten to add, that neither was badly hurt beside the odd bruise & graze & the police agreed on both occasions it was their own fault.

Maybe like a fighter pilot I ought to have a couple of bicycle emblems on the side of my car?

When I cycled regularly I had mirrors fitted to my bike - so that I could see if someone wanted to get past.

They are cheap to buy, easy to fit and they work. Any cyclist choosing not to use mirrors deserves to be tooted!

Those weekend cyclists are even worse during the week when they are going to and from work in our towns and cities!

They weave in and out of the traffic, seem to think that traffic lights don't apply to them, go the wrong way up one way streets, ride along pedestrian-only thoroughfares and flatly refuse to stop for anyone on a zebra crossing.

And why is it that bike brakes don't work in the rain ?

I'm a considerate cyclist, and a driver, I think honking people out of the ways just stupid, lucky it wasn't me I'd have had your reg and reportered you, cyclists have a right to use the road without being harrassed, as long as they are following the highway code.

Although they made an error, firstly is you are going to scream at a driver, thats beeped you I find slowing down or stopping is the best method to employ.

I'm personally glad they didn't hit a vunerable person who was trying to cross the road.

Would you have been as 'chuffed' with yoursel fif you had distracted another car driver and caused an incident.

before i rant and rave , please give a thought to the relatives of the people killed in the fires in Australia many condolences .
right then , don't you just love those crash helmeted , lycra clad, road hogging breed "The weekend cyclists" you signal to overtake them and they move out not in , they ride 3 a breast and will not over, they hurtle through country parks without any consideration for walkers and hurl abuse at you for heaven forbid walking on a foot trail.
But justice was done last Saturday morning ,when one foul mouthed banshee of the road was so busy screaming obsenities , because i sounded my horn for them to move over that he peddled straight into the back of a parked Peugot (brand new) oh how that made my whole day.
