Hi Taff ~~~ she was, lol.... ahead of her time in a lot of ways, born in 1920 but never 'old' as some people 'age'... always open to new places and people, she could laugh at herself and cry readily for others...and such a 'giver' :)))

Barbara, my mum was always interested in other people too, not in a nosy way or ever cruel...just liking to know what made people 'tick' really :))

Reading your words Rose, brings a tear to my eye . Your dear old Mum sounds very much like my own ( who I lost just over two years ago ).

Whenever my mum was going to tell me something, she always started with, did you know.........

And always, somewhere along the lines, you remember Annie Woollass,, you know, her with ten kids, lived five doors down, well, did you know................. and off she would go.

Sadly missed, never forgotten very true words....

Have sat here and gone through a lifetime of memories . the times she picked me up when I'd fallen (physically and emotionally) the way she would always take me to 'look round the next corner'. Her generosity, impatience, temper and kindness and most important perhaps her ability to laugh even though sometimes it was 'gallows humour' when times were about as hard as they could get.
I miss her every day for the conversations, the laughs, the tellings off, the sympathy, the knowing that what ever I made a mess of ,
she had probably done similar and understood lol. I miss her pottering in the garden knowing the names of every plant , cooking erratically,
bringing home stray cats and sometimes people.
I miss her argueing with someone on the telly, singing 'Come into the garden Maud' and NOT hitting the high note at the end and dissolving into hysterical giggles , all the stupid little things that stick in your memory even when the 'important' events have faded.
Most of all I want to pay tribute to a warm, loving lady , who never lost a friend once made, lived life with courage and enthusiam and hope and left the greatest gift of all to her children, happy memories always.
