Gerri. Feel for you. My daughters cat went missing not long before Xmas 2007. The kids were heartbroken, and evryone was looking for him.

Unfortunately there was a very unsuitable person who had a dog that was chasing cats and killing them.

He was never seen again, but we still often speak of him. He was a a lovely little thing.

I had a dog that was away for about 18mths, and turned up at the door one morning. He had obviously been in a house somewhere, but wanted to get home at the first opportunity. Never found out where he had been, but we were ever so happy to have him back.

The biggest miracle of a lost cat was many years ago. My cat had gone missing, but I could hear a cat every night when I was in bed. It was away for about 3-4wks.
We lived in a block of four houses, and the woman on the top opposite side got a shock. She was the only person who still had a coal fire, and she came home to find my cat in her living room. He was filthy and hungry, so it was obvious he had been stuck down her chimney.

Hope your puss returns home soon.

Vods,

You just made me smile. My Pilchard, just came down from the bedroom (where I should be!), climbed on my back -to see what I was typing and proceeded to try and climb up the chimney!! I wouldnt mind but there are still some hot coals in there! He now keeps going to the bedroom and then coming back up to me as if he is asking me to come to bed......................mmmmmmmmm best offer I have had in a long while!!! He is a funny thing really, my 11yo lay down next to him earlier and he started to lick Mikeys hair as if he was grooming him....

Right better go take this cat to bed before he wakes everyone up with his antics!

love T.x

Hi Gerri, so sorry Purdy is still missing and hope she is found safely or comes home on her own, very soon, it is so awful not knowing. You take care when roaming the roads looking for her. Hope Maggie will eat properly soon and be ok. I don't think chipping them is any worse than having their necessary jabs.

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 20 Jan 2009 08:23

Hello Gerri

Don't give up hope - there are stories here already to prove you shouldn't ..........

One of my mum's cats disappeared for 2 weeks, altho we believe she was taken by someone - still, we got her back.

I have a friend on another site who has had both her cats disappear - 1st was for many weeks, and was found near an abandoned industrial unit............ her second was missing just before christmas for a week or so, turns out he had got into a house thru catflap where the owners were away on hols and he couldn't get out!!

I know it's heartbreaking - i'm the same if any of mine don't show in a 12 hour period - but i've seen too many tales of moggies that have been reunited with owners to not have faith xxx

Really feel for you Gerri, I know how it feels. The not knowing.

When we went to England in October we didn't know how long we would be away, so we put her into the kennels here. When we got back 5 weeks later, it turned out she had escaped 3 weeks previously and was still missing. We put up posters and eventually two weeks later some girls recognised the cat as one they had been feeding down at one of the churches. She came home that day after walking about a mile from the kennels to the church. Two very happy owners and one laid back cat!! This time the neighbour fed her as she goes round to see them anyway.

There is still time for her to come home, cats have been missing for years and then come back.

My friends persian cat disappeqared and was missing for over 4 weeks, we put up posters everywhere, and despite one possible initial siting, there were no more. Then one afternoon a lady spotted him and rememered the poster she had seen and he was only two streets away.
He obviously hadnt been taken in by anyone as he had lost weight and was very hungry when he did come back home.
So, dont give up hope - this story is testament that they do come home.
Hope your cat turns up soon, thinking of you. Jayne

I am so sorry to hear this.

Our little cat has a habit of vanishing every now and then for up to 4 days at a time. It upsets me every time and I don't know where she goes.

We bought a Loc8tor gadget which is supposed to make it possible for us to find her when she wanders but she always goes out of range. We are seriously thinking of putting a GPS satellite detector thingy on her collar and they are expensive.

I hope your cat comes home soon.

Luv
Sue

Oh, Gerri

I have only just seen this thread. I'm not sure what advice to give that others haven't already said, but I just wanted to send you my love and hugs. I know how I would feel if it were our Dusk that went missing.

Our insurance company will pay for advertising and rewards in these circumstances. It may be an idea to check your policy. Ours is More Than if it's any help.
