Hi Everyone,

My visitors have gone now ,.....But ......I ended up with two grandchildren to look after .
We have just got to get them their dinner, as I & Pete went with for a pub lunch and are stuffed.

We have got them for a sleep over as well.

So I'm off again until tomorrow sometime.~~~~~~~~~~~to you all.

Pauline you are too late I have had my dinner lovely it was as well. it seem many of us had chicken today I wonder why ?
I cooked two pieces tomorrow I am going to do a chinese with lemon and rice and sweet and sour sauce..

Yvonne I like the History programmes as well I watch a lot of the about Britian where they walk about and explain things to you.
The tv is bad it has so many repeats on it at the moment. they are saving money it is not that it is a repeat but they show the same one within a couple of weeks even days. why they dont show some of the old programme that were on years ago that people might not have seen instead of these ones where you know the outcome of the programme.
I always watch the Time Team but they now are weired as they say they THINK it might have been .never prove any of it we can all think it was this or that and small bits of porttey they say are years old well there is plenty of that about if you look. I use to have a hobby of metal detecting we had a cabin crusier and it was moored on the Thames while my son and husband fished I would walk a long the embankment and search I came up with many interesting things. I found old rings and bits of metals and pottery . I found out afterwards that it had been a victorian dump where they dispossed of the houseold rubbish no wonder I found old coins none really of value. but it was interesting.

Afternoon all.

I often do that Rita - find things at the back of the cupboard with an old 'sell by' date on them. Just goes to show how much food we waste.

I haven't started with the dinner yet, we don't have dinner until about 8pm or later.

I might just pop in to see Shelly or Rita and have dinner there instead. You might as well come as well Jean, it'll save you cooking.

Rita

Rita Report 15 Aug 2010 12:25

Hi Jean
Like you I have nothing planned cook my dinner eat it wash up and then the times is my own.

I phoned my daughter to see how she was she is on crutches and her husband Steve had his chemo last week so he is not too good. he said he feel like giving up but I said you have done wonderfully so far another two and that should be it.the big operation he has got over.

i made her laugh I said I went to use some bread crumbs this morning looked at the date they ran out in 2006 so they went into the bin I checked some of my herbs to find they had also early dates so I have been throwing them out as well. times goes bye so quickly I never realised how long ago I had purchased these things.

Marilyn yes it looks like Kevins thread was taken off I have no idea whether he did it or GR.

I had a card from two friends this morning one is in Dawlish Devon and the other Boscombe where ever that is not sure. ? they have not had good weather.
My niece is in Bruge and they have bad weather too, so it seems it is not contained in Britain only.
we all moaned about the heat now we have heavy rain. we had an almighty storm after lunch and it was black as hell all around it has gone now but I can see black clouds coming this way.

I am going to watch TV tonight .nothing much on but I like" tonights The night "with John Barrowman then I expect I shall read till bedtime.

Hi Shelly
The weather did not seem to stop you enjoying yourself then. what is weather but rain snow and sun.
Children enjoy themselves when they go on rides whatever the weather. so I am pleased it all went well for you.

your husband deserves a medal.

I forgot to mention on my last thread I went into the charity shop to see if they had any books in I am out of good reading material. I managed to get three M & B History books I paid and went to go out when I notice a blue board on one of the shelves and it gave me a laugh it read. in large white letter.

WANTED A TOY BOY

Liz
I heard what you said but the trouble is if we have a relief Estate manager ( (they are not called Wardens now as they dont do anything other than run the Estate contractors. ) we have to pay for them private and we already pay for the Estate manager including her flat and half of all her bills.
There is a catch into all these retirement homes so read the small print anyone that is thinking of going into one.
You dont get a good bargain by any means.
everything costs and you get less for it..

I went and did some shopping this morning needed just a couple of items including my blood pressure tablets so went before it rained. it started to rain when I got back it is nothing much at the moment just the odd shower but we are told to be alert and wait for the heavy storms that are forcast

Rose the lady that had the fall is back home this morning. she will be very nervous now when she goes out she has one of those wheely trollies you can sit down on if you tire.

The Estate Manager is also home she came back late last night. I have not seen her yet. would not matter if I did we are not allowed to ask her or tell her anything till she is back on duty Monday morning at 9 o'clock.
going to do a small chicken pie and potato's and runner beans for my dinner.

LOL Huia, I think Liz would be happy to stay in hospital (for observation) until the wedding was all over and the son back in America. She could take her lappy and a good book and just sit with her feet up.

Marilyn, hope you get good weather at Cornwall, it's raining again here.

Yes Mo, we talked a lot, probably would have just sat there talking if it was a fine day as well.....lol

Edit: morning Rita, didn't see you there, it took me so long to get this post to upload that you sneaked in while I was trying.

Liz, maybe you could just repeat what Rita has just said........ "If you've come to see the house ........this is it, if you've come to see me......you're welcome"

Rita, I think Liz's suggestion for you was a good one as well. Someone at Age Concern may be able to get something done.

Rita

Rita Report 14 Aug 2010 09:13

Volenteer to do a book round service, seriously I dont know what she is worried about. my gran use to say "If they have come to see the house then this is it " if you have come to see me " your welcome."
we would all like spotless houses or flats shinny shelves and furniture lovely kitchens with all the gagets and bathrooms the same. Life is for the living. not a show case for others. the WELCOME MAT is on display .
I had a prayer card given to me years ago it went like this.

Lord of Pots and Pans and things.
since l've not time to be
a saint by doing things
or watching late with thee
or dreaming in the dawn light
or storming heavens gates
make me a saint for getting meals
and washing up the plate.
although I must have Martha's hands
I have a Mary mind
and when I black the boots and shoes thy sandles Lord I find
I think of how they trod the earth
what time I scrub the floor
accept this meditaion Lord
I have'nt time for more.

so you see Liz it works both ways. you can do some things others you cannot Time is something we dont always have now and as we get older it goes by too quickly.
so please stop worrying.

Morning all you other out there? I have had my breakfast and showered washed my hair and sorted out my meal for today now I have to tae my pile of tablets.

Jean I do hope things go well for you. it is no good me saying try and not worry because you will. I do the same thing try thinking POSITIVE . I will be thinking of you.

Love
Rita
