I admire the exaggerated way politicians tell the truth these days.

I forgot about the Guy in the old wheel chair . and pram . I dont think I have seen any around here since I moved here nearly 8 years ago. we had them in Ealing and in Norfolk. they use to stand outside the stations or the papers shop or even the pubs

I am glad the firemen have seen how bad it could be if they were on strike and someone was badly hurt.because no fireman was about.

we seem to be all strikes in London. it will be a winter of discontent.
now it appears the TV are having a strike I didnt hear all of it.?
I would have thought people would have been too scared they would lose there jobs and be out of work.even my estate manager who is polish is doing two jobs.

The amount of people from a broad who live here now in England who are doing two jobs I say England as I dont know anyone in Britian who are doing two jobs.

Pauline I had a call from my Doctors surgery this afternoon they said they had received a form and letter from St Peters Hospital asking for a water sample. did I know anthing about it.? I said no I didnt. she said they had never seen a form like the one they gave her for me so I have no idea why unless it is because of the bruising on my arms as I told you they are quiet bad. but I would have thought it would have ben a blood test they needed. I have to collect the form tomorrow. unless it is to do with my cancer but they never told me at the hospital so it is a mystery.

Stephen, we do have penny for the guy, but the children dont come knocking on the doors, they wait in the street to clobber you, when you come out of te*co's, or in our local precinct.
To be honest, even though my children did it when they were young, I am now of the opinion that it CAN be very dangerous for children these days.
My lot even dressed my youngest up as a guy one year, and told him not to move a muscle when people were around. LOL
I have only seen a couple of children doing it this year, so maybe parents are becoming more wary.

Hi Stephen,

They ask for money for a guy.......but they haven't got one sometimes ..LOL

Yes I'm sure its £1 now , I shall miss hearing all the fireworks going off.

But its thanks giving soon....and we do a good feast out here ,mind you Americans don't know what Roast spuds are .. instead they have mash or sweet potatoes neither that I like, I cooked them one year for them and they loved them.
Not forgetting pumpkin Pie .......ughhhhh.

Ops .....dinner is ready....

Edit....not much chance of me going to Key west this year ....but I'll remember it in future ....

Stephen2009

Stephen2009 Report 4 Nov 2010 20:55

Marilyn,

If you go to Key West again seek out the Sailing Schooner 'ATLANTIC'.

This is an exact replica of the original that my Great Uncle Charlie Barr sailed across the Atlantic in 1905 setting a record that stood for 75 years.

Even Richard Branston in his high tech yacht couldn't beat it.

He was Scottish but emigrated to the USA and became the finest sailor the Americas Cup Races ever had.

The Crew will be interested to hear you 'know' Charlies Great Nephew.

The boat is open to visitors

Stephen2009 Report 4 Nov 2010 20:43

Do you still have 'Penny for the Guy' down your way ?

This is when the children bring their 'Guy' that will be burned on the Bonfire round the doors and ask for a
'Penny for the Guy'. The Guy is usually brought round in barrow or other such thing.

Although I suspect nowadays they will be expecting at least a £1 .

On Halloween my daughter a 50 'Trick or Treat' kids through her house......the mums had planned it all....and the bairns had a ball. Helps keep alive traditions.

Pauline fancy eating duck ??? you'll go quackers soon ...LOL but it is full of fat my sister gave us a meal last week ,but she was so disappointed because by the time it cooked it had shrunk ....not much left after the fat came away.

Going to read all that I have missed now ...

I like duck, we often have it for Sunday dinner. So much fat comes out of it though, it set the oven alight once. Had the oven red hot to crisp the skin up but some fat splashed on the side of the oven and caught alight.........I panicked, just as well I wasn't in on my own.

Well it's such a windy day today,I nearly got blown over up in town. Now theres a miracle, me who's nearly the size of a double decker bus. LOL
I put the washing out on the line, with so many pegs on the clothes, it took me ages to bring it all back into the house.

Hi Ya, Marilyn I hope you are both enjoying yourselves. I thought you had deserted us all, only you are normally on line as soon as you arrive. But all is forgiven,as you had the hold up at the airport.

Off to prepare dinner now, sweet and sour pork tonight, see you all later.

Hi Stephen,

Marines !!!!.......ohhhh what a lovely thought, USA ones are not bad but not as good as our boys..LOL
We have been wearing our Poppy's and you would never believe that a lot of Americans have questioned us on why are you wearing Poppy's????.... they do have limitations on knowledge of the rest of the world.
Although I do like them as a race..

Been to all the places that you have mentioned Stephen, and Naples is my favorite, I love all the Shops ....

Off out now to do the most important thing ...SHOPPPING !!

Stephen2009

Stephen2009 Report 4 Nov 2010 15:04

Marlyn........Marilyn who ???????

Go on rub it in......86rdeg.

I enjoyed Fort Myers and all the rest of Florida when I did a grand tour.

My favourites were Fort Lauderdale and St. Augustine although for a real touch of Florida, Everglades City is worth a visit, caught in a time warp....everything seems to have passed it by.

An Artist lady tried to chat me up in Key West, you may have seen her, she has a white stick and a guide dog. LOL
She said if the rest of me was as good as my voice....she'd have me. . Little did she know.
My wife said I must have fell from the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down.

A nephew has a villa in Naples....that's nice too.

I was on a millionaires yacht in Fort Lauderdale.
'TOTO' ....110ft of pure sailing bliss.....some folk have all the luck !!!!!!!

You have a great time Marilyn.....and NO MARINES.

Stephen
