Hi everyone, hope you have all had a great weekend, and hope all you who were feeling ill or suffering pain are feeling better.
I have had my 8 month old Grandaughter here for the weekend,
goodness, aren't they hard work at that age, she is crawling around now, but goes backwards, and has just started to pull herself up on furniture. Think I may need locks on all my cupboards soon.
Did I read on someones post that there may be a London meet next year?
Rita, I have been making lists, cards and presents for Christmas,
the lists seem to get longer each year.

Take care and be happy.

Alright, where are you all hiding. Come on out and play,it's very lonely here
all on my ownsome.

Marilyn, we have kidnapped your brother, and we are planning to invade the barn any time now. I thought you said he was not a swinger...... thats not the impression we got when we tied him up, he thoroughly enjoyed it and was begging for more.
Stephen had to shove his haggis in his mouth, to keep him quiet.
Come to think of it, where is Stephen now, he's very quiet as well.
Maybe he is still painting at his nieces house.
I see that Dermot has not been in today yet either.
I bet Shelly, Pauline, Linda, Rita,Maddie, Yvonne are still doing the washing up from dinner.
Oh well, I will pop back later.

Marilyn

How are you doing ? this time last week you were in England
it was 1 class Petty officer Walter Lee. he lived in Portmouth so it seemed we heard he had not move to Plymouth ..
I am going to searxh the cemetaries and see if I can find where he may be buried. ?I can get the train down there next year a day out. and visit the grave if I can find it ? also there must be a memorial with his name on somewhere in Portsmouth.

Lanport is where they have built that big complex / Mall in Portsmouth they use to be sea mens homes there loads of them. but they pulled them down to build the shopping Mall.
shame as it was a lovely place and the tall ships use to come into there

The weather has started to get cold we are forcast strong winds and heavy rain snow in Scoltand. while you are sunning yourself think of us poor soles here in Britian shivering. not nice.

Hi All,

Stephen .....I'm too late for your lovely breakfast feast......so can you do another one for about the time I arise in USA ? LOL Please...

Rita where is Lanport ? I only know Langport in Somerset.
But what a great find about Walter, cant remember his surname tell me again.

I've come all this way and guess what ...a friend of mine has found me and coming to spend the day with me on Wednesday, better get the drinks in, he's a whisky drinker so out to find a good USA one or imported one !

Dermot .....hmmmm your not too far away from me I'm in the South Hams on the outskirts of Plymouth, and yes the Cathedral is brilliant I agree.

Mo I don't think my brother & wife would let anyone in my barn as they have already taken over.......and he's not a swinger . !!.LOL

I'm off to Church now its only 8-30am gotta pray for you lot !!!!!!

Marilyn
you know I asked you to look at the records in Plymouth for my Granfathers brother Walter, he had a career in the Royal Navy from 1889 till 1911 when he was a pensioner.and you looked for his death for, me. and could not find it.or a marriage.

I am shattered I found a lot of papers I had when i started research among them were medal Rolls and Despatches I had them as we have two of the family who were award medals of Gallentry and one was mentioned in Dispatches and two were prisioners of war. all in this set of papers, I was reading them and I found what Happened when Great Uncle Walter a 1st class petty officer was pensioned off he was re-called up for the 1914 war and was on HMS Dundee. on Patrol in the North Sea. it tells you all about him and he was awared the DSM and star and victory medal.and mentioned in Despatches for his Gallantry and was invalided out in 1918 he died on 7th December 1918 in Lanport.
I was in tears when I finished reading. it.
to think all this started when I was going through my father paper and found a photo of someone in the Navy.someone contacted me on hot matches as he was related by marriage to one of my Great Aunties and he had a photo of Walter a big wall one .he was in his uniform. I have not been able to find a frame big enough yet to put his photo in it.

It just goes to show you these things come up suddenly what a surprise I have. now I am going to try and find where he is buried in Devon. there must be a mention of him on one of the memorial. I have just emailed my sister and told her.

I am here as I have been adding to my tree more information. now would you believe I have added a Brown to it. not close related to me but on the tree. Lol.
Stephen I was sotring through some items this morning and came across a card of MY McCallums. which tells you a story.of the clan

Argyllshire is the home of this clan and the name Malcolm is the English equivalent of the Gaelic Callum , The Lands of Craigmish were given to Reginald Maccallum (we had the a before the CC then )of Corbarron in 1414 together with the Constableship of the castles of Lochaffy and Craignish. In the 17th Century Corbarron was bequeathed to Zachary MaCCllum of Poltallock .
The Poltalloch family possessed their lands prior to 1562. Dugald MaCCallum of Poltalloch who succeeded to the estate in 1779 is said to have been the first to adopt the name Malcolm Badge-Mountain Ash.;

would you believe I have this attacted to a scottish Beret and scarf and kilt
all came from Canada when my sister went on a tour three years ago
she visited a town named McCallum part of our family ancestors who emigrated there and started this town off McCallum. she said every shop carried that name as well.. But it amused me that each article has this information attached to it.

Hmm, I've got a bad shoulder, Stephen. It's a sports injury and I get lots of pain from inflammation, flares up with the slightest thing.......like cleaning windows. Doctor just gives me anti-inflammatory tablets to take when it flares up. I've had loads of steroid injections in it, but they only last for a while. Any ideas (apart from not cleaning windows)?

Hi everybody.

Rita, if you'd been around last night I would have joined in a sing song with you, and I'm sure Mo would have joined in as well.

Thanks for the breakfast Stephen, I had egg, hash browns, black pudding and coffee. I was going to nab a bit of Rita's fried bread but she'd eaten it all.

Maddie, I hope your bad back doesn't spoil your holiday.

Pleased to hear the party went well Linda, good memories for you to keep.

I take it you like living in Exeter Dermot!

Shelly, I didn't know that about the donkey milk either, apparently it's the worlds most expensive cheese.

Not as expensive as Marilyn's new ring though!!

Morning Maddie,

Without seeing you it's hard to suggest a recovery exercise.

But try this one.....do it gently and if it hurts too much...
STOP.

Stand up straight, lift your hands and arms up, place your hands behind your head clasping your fingers together,
elbows pointing outward in a straight line, look for the corner of your ceiling, thats to help you stay up straight.

Now GENTLY rotate your body from the hips, swinging from side to side. A wee bit pain is ok. Try and stretch the muscles as much as possible.

Do it a few times and if ok repeat often.....keep the muscles moving or it will just get worse.

Breakfast as ordered Mi Lady. Hope everything is to your liking. Lean cut Back Bacon, the Tomatoes are fresh from Guernsey. Bread baked and fried just for you.
If you require anything else.....just ring for the Butler.

\________________/ Big trough for the rest of us.
Get your snouts into that !!!!!!!

Eggs, Bacon, Mushrooms, Hash Browns, Sausage, Black Pudding, Beans, etc.
Lightly browned toast.

Another busy day ahead. Will need to stop early as I am going to an Indian Wedding tomorrow in Edinburgh. Got to make sure the Kilt and Sporran are looking good.
Another lovely cultural experience. The last Asian wedding I attended was Pakistani.
We had to miss an African Traditional Christening recently due to Mrs Stephen being ill. Won't miss the Wedding though.
I was joking with the Bridegrooms family the other day, so many attending are named Singh.
You guessed it, and I couldn't resist it, I said there would be no problem in us having a 'Singh Song' then. They laughed politely....probably had heard that one a million times.
One of the family hails from Dublin, it's great to hear his Irish/Indian accent. The Scots/Indian accents I'm quite used to.
There is a Pakistani family in Stornoway, on the Island of Lewis, that speak Gaelic. Fantastic, thats more than most Scots can do.

Linda....Glad all went well with your family party. Hope you took loads of photos as these are times to treasure.

Marilyn,
Bed early....certainly....I have a lovely wee Scots lass waiting for me.....she's usually sound asleep right enough...or perhaps she is just kidding on.
As I climbed into bed one night she said...'Is that you, Stephen?' Who the h**l did she think it was ? LOL

Have a good day ya all !

Evening evryone who is still up.
The family gathering went really well
The old folks were on form, though Dad did seem more frail and tired easily.
Everyone came. We chatted. Exchanged a few photos. Had a little drink or two. Had our fish and chip supper. Then cut the cake and passed round cake , gateaux etc.
A cup of tea or coffee. Then some went home, those with a distance to travel and others who had dogs to worry about with the fireworks. Took Mum and Dad back to their flat and settled them back down. They look content but tired.
Mum had a few clear moments, but then she would ask strange questions and repeat her questions too.
It was good to see everyone together again.

Well off to bed soon. Might go out for the day tomorrow if the weather is good

Oh the cake was really nice. Good old Costco. It was praised by everyone.

Check back tomorrow.
It took me ages to read all the postings sinec lunchtime
