Stephen
when we lived in Norfolk my husband use to put all those in the car boot including an old bit of sacking which we put under the wheels of the car when stuck. we also took large plastic bags, to put over our shoes incase we forgot the wellies.he use to keep a packet of torche batteries
incase our torche ran out. and he carried reflectors to place around the car so people knew we were in it. and didnt hit us. we got caught out twice with the weather.

Thanks for the chocs Stephen, just what I need to cheer me up a bit.
I agree with what you are saying, about the emergency kit. Fortunately we are not in a remote place. But when we do get snow, I like to check on my neighbours, to make sure they are alright, and also if they need anything.
We have several widows in our small close, and I would hate for them to be neglected,as it's not always possible for their families to get to them.
If we don't see a neighbour for a day or two, we knock on the door to make sure they are well.

On a serious note.

For those who drive or go out in cars.

We always have, in each of our cars
,
Waterproof and warm clothing, gloves and wooly hat, extra socks and stout boots, torch and first aid kit.

In winter we add a shovel, some grit, a sleeping bag. Also a thermos flask filled each day with a hot drink.

Folk tend to think they are invincible in their wee machines with air con and central heating......until it breaks down or they are stranded in the snow.

Worth thinking about.

See girls, I told you our James Bond 007 and a half, was a nutter, fancy risking his neck going out in that snow skiing. At least you could have done the milk tray advert Stephen, and bought Mrs Stephen a box home.

Brrrr Maddie, poor you having to face that cold weather out there. Have you got work tommorrow as well .I am dreading the snow coming up our way, it's been snowing down in Dover and Folkestone today, so watch out
my love, get the moon boots out ready. LOL

A question for Marilyn ...... did you send a p.m to Huia today, re someones family in NZ.They are having a reunion with the family next year.
If it was you, well done, if it's not you, try harder next time. LOL

GREAT, GREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT.

I belong to the Friendly Thread.....or should I say......Friendliest Thread.

All as daft as brushes,

mad as hatters,

a bunch of screwballs,

a load of looneys

totally dolally,

missing a screw,

BUT OH BOY ! Do we know how to laugh and have a bit of fun.

And still support each other when the need arises.

Well, my planned day didn't happen.

So I went and played on my skis instead. Came home in the dark sliding along using my headtorch. Yep.....daft as a brush.

Snowed nearly all day today. Better get a bigger shovel for Mrs Stephen.

Tea time now. Catch you later.

Evenin all.
Many thanks for the photo's,Marilyn and Pauline.
Our Mr 007 and a 1/2 Stephen's wedding pics were lovely, and Maddie was a proper little madam at the wedding.

Marilyn fancy telling Pauline to whoosh some of that snow, down to us others. We don't want it ta very much.
Judging by the amount Paulines got,she could have her own ski run in the garden.
Enjoy your last week of sunshine, coz sure as eggs is eggs, you are sure to come back to some snow. ha ha

Ahhhh Stephen what a shame everything got cancelled for you both. But it's better to be snowed in at home, rather than away.
Will you be o.k to get to work tommorrow. Or have you got to get the sledge and huskies out. Whip crack away, ye ha get up there little dogies.

Hi Rita, hope you are staying nicely wrapped up and warm. Have plenty of hot drinks love. I wont say eat well,as I can see you are doing that anyway.
Judging by the amount you cooked, you must have thought we were all coming for our sunday lunch. LOL

Pauline, will Brent be o.k to get to his centre tommorrow, or do you think they will cancel it again.

What has happened to our Shelly today, is she still wrapped up in a blanket by her fire keeping warm.

Hi there Lady, good to hear from you. Have you got any snow your way yet.

Maddie is at work today isn't she. I bet she will be like a frozen pea when she gets home, ahhhh bless her little cotton socks.

I thought you were being a bit optimistic Stephen.

Never mind, you can have some fun in the snow instead.

Never tried skiing, but think I may have to learn if this snow doesn't stop soon.

Marilyn, can't believe you want to leave all that sunshine. You'll soon cool down when you get back here.

Rita, I'll have some of that bubble and squeak and bread pudding please. We don't eat dinner until about 8pm, so it won't put me off my dinner.

I dont know what happened to me today, because I didnt drink anything stronger than a coffee. but I cooked my dinner chicken breast,s stuffed yes I did say breasts I forgot there is only me and I cooked two breasts. and roasted enough potato's for three people and the cabbage the same., I did four yorkshire puddings as well . I always have them if I have a roast dinner.
no way could I eat that amount so I have put them in a bowl looks like I am going to have bubble and squeak for the next two days.
to add to this I made a large rice pudding. and a small bread pudding.
I am thinking of having a dinner party anyone want bubble and squeak. ? with rice pudding or bread pudding to follow.
no wonder I am putting weght on.

Hi Lady time does go quickly .I dont know where it has gone. my life seems to have flown by. even the days I get up do a few jobs and it is time for bed.

Pauline I could not stop laughing when I saw your garden and that snow I thought she wont be able to make a snow angel in ? they would need the SOS helicopters out to look for you.

Stephen I asked me Great Granddaughter Megan ( last year when I went to me daughters and she had brought me a birthday cake) why have I gone down in age ? there were twentyone candles on that cake.she smiled and said" ha we played a joke on you grandma "I said to her" I think you have." she said Daddy said the firemen may go on strike and there will be no one to put the candles out when it catchs fire..
Brett looked a bit sheepish I said that is the last time you get two presents on Christmas day. (his birthday is Christmas Day so he gets two presents. ) He told me I had said it as a joke( out of the mouth of babes. you never know what will come.out ?
I told them in futrue if you get that idea of a cake then get a candle with the age on it and that way you only have one candle to light. and it saves you on matches.
I tell you my family are as mad as I am. I wonder who they take after me or my Late husband. ?

Hi everyone.

Lovely photos today, Maddie as a little angelic bridesmaid (being held still by an aunt) ,..............LOL

Stephen as a handsome young man with his lovely wife, and an up to date one of him being very sensible............LOL

I don't think I'll bother shoveling any snow away today, it's just going to come back again in a couple of hours.

Looks like we'll have cabin fever by the end of the week.

Stephen2009 Report 28 Nov 2010 09:23

Well some of you will have seen my photos..........In case anyone is wondering who's who............my wife is the one in the white dress. ROFL

Seems like just yesterday they were taken. Well one of them was actually.

How fast do the years fly in.

My wee grand daughter, Eilidh age 6, put 10 candles on my cake

' Why 10 ?' asks I

'Grandad, we don't have enough candles, and 6+4 makes 10'.

She's a bright wee lass.

Loads of snow last night. So it was out early with the snow shovel again.

It's still snowing very hard so I expect the plough will need to come out soon.

I've to head into Edinburgh today for a reunion meeting with some friends.

As long as I make it to the Motorway things should be fine.

Then later on today a Christening of a Great Niece. Hope they make it to the Church. They live fairly high up and the roads will probably be badly hit by the snow.

Last Winter a house in the Glen was burned to the ground beacause the Fire Engine could not get through the snow. The snow was still at least 3ft deep at the road side in April. The high tops of my local hills still had snow on them in mid June.

Hey Ho ! Off I go.

Catch you later. Have a good day ya all !
