Hi All.
Been out Shopping for FOOOOOOOD..
The sun is shinning Here big time.
Pat is the sun out up there in Exeter ?
Now I have to do a Family Christmas dinner on Sunday .....do I feel like it ?.... NO But I have just decided to do soup for starters instead of the traditional Prawn Cocktail . Our local super market had Deluxe Tomato & Mascarpone with Basil Soup reduced to 50p a tub so I bought (6.).....how about that easy peasy to do .
So all I have to do is concentrate on the Turkey ,and that will be a crown with stuffing already in it ....I'm trying to cut down on the cooking side of it . Gonna make a trifle and got Christmas pud & Brandy sauce already. Then all the trimmings in and around will be dealt with during the week ahead. Right that that out of the way........ See Shelly I'm as organized as you now ...LOL
Just wrapped a few pressies , now going to make my Christmas decoration for my table on Sunday.....Hmmmmm what shall I do .....out hunting for some holly in the field.....

Hello everyone, from a sunny but cold Kent. Oh what a day, I have tried sending addresses to those who wanted them, but made a faux-par on Paulines, and ommitted a few bits of it. I have now amended it and sent p.m's. Stupid mare that I am, how could I only have part of it. Oh well thats life, well mine anyway.
Pat,my only gambling obsession(sp) is Bingo, and that is not very often. I leave the lottery up to my O.H, if he wins we will share, if I win, it's mine. LOL

Hi everyone NO sun here Marilyn you didn't open your suitcase when driving through, kept it all for yourself eh?
Pauline I am so pleased for Brent, he must be having a great day and a chance for you to get out too, even if it was only shopping for food, a basic necessity. How did they manage before? Did they bring things to the door when they only had horses?
Sorry about your guinea pig Dermot, he was quite elderly, my friends who have several guinea pigs are glad when they reach 5 years, that seems to be their maximum.
Have a good afternoon all. Walked out this morning with little in the buggy for local estate cards. It was cold, but no wind, so not too bad. At least we got some freash air.

Especially for any gambling addicts on here:-
Doctors say they have come up with a new drug that prevents people from gambling.
In fact, they are so confident in the success of the new drug, they will double your outlay if it doesn't stop you.

Pauline I would loved to have seen Brents face when they managed to get him in the bus bless him. That was so kind of them to do that for him. you get kind people all around you at times makes such a difference to peoples lives. I have been having trouble opening GR emails I have had six now since yesterday from Mo and only managed to open three and that took ages means I have to back tract all the time and try to open them. Is anyone else on here having any trouble. like that.? I have sent them an email asking for their help.. I am gradually getting annoyed about it.not a lot upsets me but this does as there is no way around it. It is so cold again this morning we still have some snow lying about just patches of it. I am sneezing like mad to-day must be waiting at the bus stop did this to me gave me a cold. ? still it could be worse? when I see the news and see the places people are in I thank my lucky stars I am not in that predicament .. I wonder if Maddie went to Town this morning. ? I hope you manage to get out and do your shopping Pauline.

Morning all, bitterly cold here, icicles everywhere, but ........................
Yippeeeeee, the bus got here today!!
Brent was the only one they hadn't been able to get to, so today they were determined to pick him up.
They used a smaller bus and sent 2 strong men, in-case it got stuck. The men managed to get the wheelchair over the snow and ice that's on the road, and got him safely on the bus. He was beaming from ear to ear when he saw them, and burst out laughing when they got him on the bus.
They didn't pick anyone else up on that bus because they didn't want to put anyone in danger. I thought it was very good of them to send a bus out just for him. He's gone off as happy as Larry.
I'll have to do some shopping now...........if I can get the car started, it's stood there for 2 full weeks. Hope I can drive OK on the ice.
Dermot, sorry to hear you lost your little pet, 7 years is a long time.

Morning All Crisp out this morning, but forecast is for getting warmer, I hope.
Stephen I know you love your Scotland but I wouldn't like the amount of snow you have.
I can't wait til my hubby and I jet away to some warmer clime hopefully by March. We are a bit like Marilyn and need a winter warm up, but usually only once a year. Our favourite area being the Carribean.
Well morning Shelly and Maddie hope you get your shopping and jobs sorted.

(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?
Tea or Coffee
Porridge or Cereals, Bacon Rolls.
A wee quick breakfast before I go out to defrost the car.
Temperature down to -16C this morning, as expected.
' when the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even'
Well the snows not so much 'even' but piled in great heaps all over my place.....at least I can move out onto the road.
Keep expecting to find troops in some of the trenches I've dug.
Catch you later.

Rita,
New Year has changed in Scotland. Now most folk go to bed just after midnight. Then have a party the next day.
Not too many years ago we went 'First Footing' carrying our New Year Bottle, some coal and some cake......to wish the folk a good year.
We could be away for a few days....going from house to house or just dropping into any house when we heard a good going party taking place.
My wife and I usually go to Edinburgh on New Years Eve and join in the huge street party that takes place.
New Years day we go out for a family walk in the hills and then have a family dinner either at our home or my daughters. Although this year all being well we might get a couple of days skiing.
Night all.

The way you describe where you live sounds really nice.
It is like your painting a picture and I can picture it.all.
Mother in Law celebrated the new year more so than Christmas.
A few drinks were had In a little pub in Bervie village
But New year was Party wth an accordian and fiddle playing
every table had a bottle of whisky and lemonade .
Just before Midnight the tall darkman went out with a silver coin
and at the stroke of Midnight came in everyone drank a toast to
the new year,and sang.
My parents and the whole family too many to name celebrated in London
At my Grans house. The Scots wore their kilts
The others were in uniform or their good clothes.
At two minutes to Midnight my father would go out into the street
Dad was tall 6 ft 4 and had black curly hair.
He knocked on the door Gran would open it and he would
come in and hand Gran a coin, for wealth, a piece of coal
for warmth and a pinch of salt for health ,
The we would drink a toast to the new year,
The three things Dad brought in were put on the top of Grans
Posh glass case and stood there all year.
Memories
