I am indeed 46, well at least for a few more weeks, lol. I bet Stephen isn't wearing a kilt at the moment!!! We get very little snow down here, not more than an inch or two usually. Had another busy day with grandchildren, I do hate the school run. All have various activities to be taken to as well and by the time they all go home (by 6.30pm on a good day) I'm exhausted. I like it when they're off school, I get a rest of sorts. Still have to look after them but at least they're all in the same place. Bless them...

Cath, you are the same age as my eldest daughter then, 46.
I bet you are glad to be home in the warm as well. I pity poor Stephen up in Scotland, they have had it worse than us, and even though we are due more snow, I bet we wont get as much as up there. ( Fingers crossed anyway.)

Been a nice day here weather wise, very cold but sunny, its always nice to see the sun. I dont much care for winter and the dark mornings.

Mommy 1964 was a very long time ago! I work with 3 youngsters who are under 25! For the last 3 years I've been working in the trainees room. Basically because there was space there for me. They keep me young although I'm old enough to be their Mum!

Shelly we didnt have all the time off the children have these days/ we had deep snow . and was still expected to get to school. we had trolley buses and they had overhead rails when it got stuck in the snow or ice people came out of their homes to give the bus a push they took the overhead rails off before they pushed and back on the rails when they did it. . people went to work in that bad weathe. and the children to their schools we had holidays at Easter, Summer and Bank Hoildays and Christmas but no days inbetween when you were leaving School and you reached that age you has to wat till one of thoses main holidays came before you could leave . Does your son know what he wanted to do Shelly when he leaves school ? Pauline I wndered where you were you old gadabout so I suppose your making up for the time you got stuck indoors.with the snow. we are expecting more so they forcast. My friend brought me four sheets of photo paper over this afternoon and I did the wedding photos you touched up for me they came out really well. so I am going to frame two and give one to my daughter and one to my youngest son as I like that one of my husband. My sister didnt have long holidays and she taught school History and English and French on the summer holidays she arranged to take her class out for trips to museums in London and art Gallery a day at Kew things like that . she said their parents were working and the children liked going on those trips she didnt get paid the children paid for their fares but she took the sandwiches and food with her. I think she enjoyed it as much as the children if not more. They would not let you do that now Health and Safety, Lol dont wrinkle in that bath Pauline

Good evening all.
Hope everyone is well and warm.
Rita, you are gonna have to drown your sorrows. A bad cold needs a stiff drink. Failing that, a nice cuppa cocoa. Do keep warm and get rid of it quick.
We had 6 people missing today. 3 ill, 1 no show, and 2 off on parity days. So good organisation, eh.
Walked home, and got soaked. Cheesed off, going to bed.
I'm better off just getting under the covers and watching the telly.
Promise not to be so grumpy tomorrow.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Mommy, I work with figures and a computer. I've been doing my cards peacemeal. Some of my friends are just as bad as me. I'm meeting a friend for lunch. Her present is wrapped! When I was at school in 1963 I don't remember school being closed!

Hi all.........Marilyn, Shelly, Mo, Rita, Linda, Maddie, Yvonne, Jean, Fiona, Sue, Lady, Pat, Cath, Stephen and Dermot ...............is that everybody?
Just popping in before I have my bath. Been out again most of today, and going out again tomorrow.
Haven't been shopping though, been visiting family and taking holly wreaths to the cemetery.
I've just wrapped about 2 dozen presents up for little ones in the family. But still have some to buy for son and hubby, don't even know what to get for them.
Got the rest of my cards posted today, now I've just got to write the cards out for my son.
Rita, I'd love to see the photo of your parents, I love old photos.
Going to collapse in my bath now.

Shelly both of our next door neighbours are teachers, and during the last lot of snow, they were home before some of the poor children, who's parents were still at work. They both work about 20 minutes away from home, so not very far, but both of their schools were closed, and they were at home for a whole week. But I bet they got paid for it, where as my son who works in Orpington, was unable to get to work, and will not be paid for the day of he had to have of,as he had to abandon his car, and there were no trains running. They seem to shut the schools for no reason at all these days. I remember going to school, in deeper snow, and having to sit all day in wet clothes, BUT the schools never closed, and we did not have the same heating they have these days.

I bet you girls have all spent out. all these christmas presents and decorations and food you have been buying.
My friend in Devon Doris lives in Yelverton told me she spends a lot of time getting her guinuie pigs out and then having to cover them up at night. she said even the birds water has to be brokend up with a small pick-axe she walks her dogs every day about 5 miles. I amazed at her . she is in her late 70's and she still walks for miles.she used to take them out on rambles but said that was too far now.. me I have to sit down after half and hours walk. Pauline I found Mum and dads photos would you like to see them?
looking at the weather man on TV tonight I wondered if he was connected to my Scottish family as his name is McCallum and alot of them dont have the A in MacCallum
Anyone on here been to Western Super Mare for a holiday? I put a thread out on chat but no one replied so I deleted it. my sister and I wanted to go to Somerset for a week in July and chose that place as we travel about by bus and wanted to beable to get to bath and a place called Mells where one of my Grandfathers ancestors came from. but looking on the internet it seem to have a bad feedback the Hotels food is not good and the beach when the tide goes out is mud.so I dont know where else to try.? I am off now see you later if I am not drunk and fall into bed.

Shelly is it my imagination, or do the kids get more holidays these days. I know you are a lot younger than me, and that they did change the way the holidays were taken, but they always seem to have school holidays. If not they have Bakers day, or teacher training days. How come when I was at school, teachers didn't get given this time for training.
Pat haven't you finished those cards yet. Have you had a busy day at work. What type of work do you do love.?

Thank you Marilyn, Pauline and Linda for your cards. I hope by now that all the cards I sent have arrived.
Yvonne, I read all about you and the noisy crowd in the paper. You made the headlines, " Noise abatement society, had to evict a ladies night out, after they upset other diners with their laughter and jollity ". LOL I wish I had someone who would offer to do my tree each year, could I borrow your son next year please.
Oh Rita, I am sorry to hear of all the ill health in your family. And I do hope to god that your cold/flu hurries up and goes away, so that you can enjoy your Christmas at your daughters.
Shelly, I didn't spend much in town today, I haven't got much left to spend. How's the excitement in your house, with the lead up to the big day. I bet the kids are driving you nuts. When do the schools break up for the Christmas hols.
I wonder when we will hear from Marilyn. I hope they had a good journey.
Hello to Pauline, Linda,Maddie Pat, Cath, Fiona aka Ruby, Sue, Lady, Stephen, Dermot and anyone I may have forgotten. Luv Mo
