Hello Mo.
I do know what it is like to have an orft day. I have had one for about 2 weeks. lol
Yes I wore a piece of black velvet ribbon with an ornamental cross on it, with me dolly dress, and dolly shoes. I WAS THE BUSINESS. pmsl
Talking of pearls. Dont laugh. It was our Pearl Wedding Anniversary a few years back, and we were nosing down Hatton Garden. I saw a string of Black Pearls in one of the windows. I commented how unusual they were, as I have a string of imitation white pearls. Lo and behold, I got the black pearls with earrings to match. They are beautiful. Only for High Days and Holidays.
Kevin is watching the Darts [with his eyes closed] some bloke called Wolfy is on. Looks a bit arrogant.
Sorry, I used to be a secretary, Mo, I can type 80 wpm.
Stands back and waits for the shoes to be thrown. lol

Hi Maddie. Sorry for being an ol misery guts. I'm cheesed orft, I wanted to watch the dancing on ice, but im indoors is watching the darts final on the t.v. If I want to watch it, I have been told I can go upstairs and watch it on the box up there, but the heating has not been on today, and it's turned colder now, so I am giving him the cold shoulder, and sitting here sulking. LOL
I don't think I will bother to buy the fine china thats going to be on sale, for all the celebrations this year. If I have another moody day, like today, I just might throw it at him.
Did you wear a choker when they were in fashion, I know I did. I thought I was the bees knees with my cameo broach on a piece of ribbon, strung around my neck. lol
Of course the pearls came out for wearing on a Sunday. (not really)

Cheer up Mo.
I know it is cold, wet, miserable, blooming cold. But, hey, it is January.
They said this weekend would be a misery for most folks. It is the anticlimax after Christmas and the New Year.
See as I missed most of it, it dont bother me too much. lol
True, the old halo is getting a bit tight. It is called a choker, dont yer know. Just giving it a polish in time for the Royal Weddings. What a load of hype we will have from now until then.
apparently the fine china business have gone into overdrive to get their tat out for the Wedding. They will have double bubble this year with William, Zara and the Duke of Edinburghs' birhday. No doubt Harrods will have 'tasteful' items for sale. pmsl
Hope all goes well for Jean, she has a special appointment in March. So get up and at 'em Jean.
Sees ya.

Back again jiggety jig. lol
Pleased your cleared up the Stan Lees for me Rita. I know of the American fellah, my son used to collect the Marvel comics, and Stan Lee was the originator of Spiderman I believe.
I too can draw and paint. I embroider, and do counted thread samplers, did them for my children, and my neice. I used to knit for the children, usually the matinee sets, and jumpers for school. I never to could fathom crochet, perhaps if someone sat next to me, I could pick it up. I used to do batik printing, and also cake decorating. But I dunno, I dont seem to have the time nowadays. Yet when the kids were small, I used regularly to bake and get them to help me. Usually flour and eggs on the floor, but they loved licking out the bowl. lol
It has been wet here today, and pretty grey. Hope everyone is well and warm.
Pleased you got booked at the Ocean Rita, I am sure you wont be disappointed. The is a war memorial on the prom. and a disused mine just along from it. The Pier no longer has a theatre on it, but Shanklin still has theirs.
Checked out the drawing from Stephens relative. I think it must be pen and ink, as the lines are very crisp.
I think we all possess a great gift. The gift of laughter. It is the greatest medicine. Plus compassion.
Just off to give my halo a polish. lol
See you later Maddie

We've got quite a few talented people on this thread haven't we? Shelly is very artistic as well, she makes some lovely things.
Hmm, that drink sounds nice Cath, might look for it when I go food shopping on Tuesday. I like lemon and I like ginger so it should suit me.
Come to think of it, I've got some ginger wine waiting to be made, might make it tomorrow.
I've cleared all the snow but the ground is frozen, and I've just heard on the news that we're going to have more snow overnight.
I'm doing curry for tonight, better go and get it started.
Catch you all later.

Cor blimey, what a clever bunch on this thread!!!! I must be in the wrong place, lol. I can draw matchstick men - good enough for Lowry-. I do like arts and crafts as a hobby when I've time though. Sun still shining here but temperature dropping rapidly now. Had a good tidy up round the house so feel like I've achieved something today and feel so much better, I bought some Ginger and Lemongrass cordial and have just had some hot, its lovely. Can smell dinner cooking (OH's turn), slow roasted belly pork, roast potatoes, baby carrots and braised red cabbage and my mouth is watering. Might even open a bottle of wine to go with it, oh and we have Christmas pudding and fresh Guernsey cream for dessert. Yum.

No Maddie Stanley did cartoon for comics and papers over here that one did his in America. My cousin use to get asked if he was that Stanley Lee he use to say if I was I would earn al ot more money.
My cousin descesed now was in the army during the war and shot in the leg in Normady. He carried on doing Cartoon work when he came out.of the army . I have a large folder of my son Mikes Art work.he had to do them for exams.to get his Graphic art job. If I knew how to scan and forward I would have sent a couple for you to see. The consisted of everything for items to cars children cartoon etc.
I have done lots of artistic work as hobbies from making clothers crocheting. Knitting , Embrodiery all types silk painting.Toy making . Lace making. Then I did a three year course at Ealing College where I did Bakery making sweets and Cakes for wedding and birthday etc.Ice decoration work. Bread etc. did Wine Making and Flower arranging so you see I have done a lot. my fingers work better than my brain.
I did water colours painting I didnt get on so well with oils. I did Tapestry work as well. My home is full of things I have made at sometime or other.

Well I must be the odd one out then because I'm not artistic. My siblings were very artistic though, they could draw amazing portraits of people, but I struggled to manage a pin-man. Oh well, we can't all be talented!!
Hope all the invalids are recovering.
Edit: Forgot to say, we've got snow ...........aaaaargh.

Afternoon All.
Been up a while, but not on the puter. lol
So we are all artistic folks. I will look at my e-mails later. Looking forward to seeing the one from Stephens family.
My ancestor was Robert Benjamin Haydon who was part of the Royal Academy. I will be going there soon to look in their archives. My son is also rather arty.
Did you say your cousin was Stan Lee, Rita. The same Stan Lee who drew for Marvel comics?
I'm not coughing quite as much this morning, so hopefully it will be on its way out of my system.
See you later.

Rita,
Charlie Barr was a Professional Racing Sailor. He left Gourock as a young man and went to the USA.
He became the finest Racing Skipper in Yachting History.
Do a Google for 'Charlie Barr, Americas Cup' you will find lots of info about him.
I have just emailed the New York Yacht Club to remind them that the Centenary of his death is coming up.

you can tell by the strokes how it was done. I thought at first it was done with pen and ink but not too sure now.?but it is a good drawing unusual to see a grave stone done this way, he died just before the 1911 census took place.so what was his normal trade. ? I have a pen and ink painting i did somewhere I will have to look for it. I say painting as it is the sea and sunset.it must be about I have been looking for the photo album that has our little boats we had in we had three in all the last was a 4 berth.I think I might have put it with that,
Catherine I was up quiet early prepared my dinner for today. did my breakfast as I am watching what I eat at the moment these breakfast that my friends on here do are a bit too much for me. Took my recycling stuff out to the commercial bin. sorted out the washing to do for tomorrow. answered some emails. did some vacuming and had a shower then made my bed.now I have a couple of letters to type.
I dont think we wil hear anything from Jean's daughter till she has the results in tomorrow.

i give up! Last year I was using the calendar on omy mobile phone. This year i thought I would use a diary for the dates andd appointments. I put the time in the diary for my re-arranged eye test and then I went back to my phone only to find that I've got a hair appointment more or less the same time!
