Oooh rubies Cath, a lovely gem. I wish someone had left me a ruby ring, but no such luck. I don't blame you for not wearing it very often, it has a lot of history to it.
Rita, I had to laugh at the fishy tales. I would hope that if someone did find it, they had more luck with it,than mum apparently had. I do hope it is the decreasing of the steroids thats causing you the aching limbs Rita( not that I want you to suffer) rather than the flu coming back again.
I wonder if we will hear from Jean, about her results. I hope they let her home soon, or she will be going stir crazy being stuck in the hospital.

Catherine I was disgusted with that couple to abort twins boys because they wanted a daughter I had to read that twice.it is terrible thing it upsets people in different ways but to me that was really wicked I understand in Australia it is barred anyway. when you think of all these children in homes wanted to find a family it is so sad.
Mo perhaps some one caught a fish and that ring was in it ? Lol some of the films they have on TV show that happening/
Maddie it was two sister in a workhouse you were looking for. in Devon ? I cannot find the paper now where it was all written down. I had a clean up of papers yesterday I dont know what is wrong with my arms but they are aching. painfully today. I am cutting my Steriods down gradually on Doctors orders so I am wondering if it is that ?I have Polmalgia Rheumatica and take them for that , they stop the pain I get in my bones which is severe at times. so I will have to wait till I get a blood test done. Oh the joys of getting old.

Afternoon all. As a child of about 9/10, when we were travelling to Malaysia by boat, my mother threw her Jade ring into the ocean, as she swore it was unlucky. Ooooh I wanted to spit, as I loved that ring. It was a big square Jade ring, set in gold, and I always felt envious of her when she was wearing it. I wanted to cry when she threw it into the sea. But being of that age, I had no idea of what the bad luck was that she had suffered.
You will be envious of me today, we have got sunshine, and bright skies. But it's still chilly outside.

Afternoon everyone. Hope you are well and warm.
So I think we are agreed that both Pearls and Opals are unlucky.
I prefer Diamonds anyday. lol
Just come back from the shops, and it is very grey outside. Quite miserable.
Supposed to be a bit warmer this week, I do hope so, I am fed up with the cold.
Gonna try and do a bit on my tree today, keeping warm.
Think I might do a bit of pruning and Arboury. Thats posh, eh.
Sees ya later.

Hi Rita, I am lost for words at the sheer selfishness of the couple who aborted twin boys. Children are a blessing not a right and should be loved and cherished no matter what sex they are. I feel sad they lost a daughter but nothing can ever replace her.
Hope everyone is ok today, weather here is sunny at moment but heavy rain forecast for later.

I HAVE JUST HAD MY NEXT SCAN APPOINTMENT IN, 15TH FEBRUARY AT 11.40 I was worried it would come in a day before my Warfarin blood test but that is due 8th February. Two weeks after the scan I have to go for the results to St Luke's cancer hospital. so I am trying to forget it for the time being.
I think Marilyn must have either not taken her computer with her. or cannot get a connection.otherwise I think she would have got intouch. even if it was just we arrived safe or weather lovely.

Pauline you still need to know how to do these things on the computer .not everyone can. I know I cannot.
I missed that bit about opals. when my Dads sister died in 1964 she left me her jewllery and some money and her mini piano. the rings are 18 ct and one is five saphires and the other diamonds also a five stone Opal ring. my Uncle Charlie gave them to her over the years The opal he brought her just before he went back to HMS Hood. When he got to the docks he was told he was posted to another I think it was HMS ISIS and the Hood left without him and went down as we all know. my aunty would not wear that ring she said it was unlucky the reason being all Uncles treasures had gone done on it all his photos of his famlly and his son( my cousin Ronnie photos ).He didnt have any left. and his son died when he was five they could not have any more children.Ronnie was a twin the other died not long after being born.Uncles trunk had been left on the Hood. Mum said the opal was lucky as Uncle Charlie had missed going down on the Hood. but Aunty didnt see it that way. she was upset about all the photos lost and how it had affected my Uncle. Lucky my Gran had a photo and so that was a happy note. I have that photo still a big one of Ronnie on a pony. I must admit I dont wear the ring that often. I cannot recall the last time I wore it. I am thinking of our Jean now I do hope she will be out today,

Morning all, we've got rain at the moment, I hope it stays for a while, it might get rid of the snow...........as long as it doesn't freeze.
Mo, I used to have a black velvet choker with a cameo on, I had it so tight one day I nearly passed out. I've still got a leather one, with imitation diamonds on it.
Maddie, I don't have pearls for the same reason as Mo, we were always told it was pearls for tears.
Rita, it's not me that does the photos, it's the computer, all I do is click buttons.
Cath, I bet that cordial isn't sold up here.
Linda, my dad used to say the best cough medicine always tasted horrible.
Hope Jean gets good results today.

I watched Larkrise. I like the way they use a golden filter over the lens of the camera, to give it a nostalgic hue.
Did I ask Rita to look something up for me on my tree? Remind me if I did, cos I have forgotton.
I have come to a full stop and a comma on mine. Not until the 1911 Census becomes fully available will I be able to look stuff up. I dont want to keep posting on the boards to get others to look at things for me, I prefer to do it myself, cos I wander off at a tangent.
Keep warm and well everyone.
Nighty night.

edit. Just re-read Ritas post. Julia Sawahala is in Candleford. Her sister Nadia is skating. They are VERY alike.

Evening all Well today has flown. I did some washing. Then after lunch we had a drive to Windsor and walked down the Long Walk towards the castle. We then walked down Peascod Street. No we didn't go into any shops. But I did see that Boots has moved back to where thhey were many years ago. They have taken over the old Woolworths. That surprised me. Oh I managed to get the cough mixture and it tastes horrid!! But I do think that the coughing is getting less. I have slept better too last night. Watching Larkrise now............... hubby said you don't watch this do you? Oh I did some research earlier tonight and found a photo on Ancestry of my mother's cousin's husband. I hadn't seen him since I was a young girl, possibly at my parents Silver Wedding Anniversary party and that was 35 years ago. He unfortunately passed away in 2005. But I found out a lot about the family today.
Hope everyone is feeling better and that Jean gets good news tomorrow. Sleep well friends. Hoping you don't have to endure too much snow Stephen and Pauline too
Linda :o) XxX

Now I lurve opals Maddie. The engagement ring I wear now is opals, and I also have another two opal rings. This is about my fourth engagement ring, I keep losing the stones out of them. I have lost diamonds and sapphires, so now have settled for the opals instead.

Now that is a funny thing, my Mum always said that something else represented tears. Oh blimey, I cant think of the stone. Very pale, and if you hold it to the light, we can see the colours of the spectrum through it.
Oh crickey, I will wake up at 2am and shout it out. lol
When we went to the IOW last year, kevin bought me a string of multicoloured pearls at the Pearl Factory.
All this jewellery, and no where to wear it.

Forgot to say Maddie, I would not let Roly buy me pearls for our anniversary, as we were always told that pearls are a sign of tears.
My daughter bought me some fresh water pearls a couple of years ago. I feel mean as I dont wear them very often. Stupid superstition really, but I dont want to tempt fate.
