Maddie,
A wee memory jogger..........The three RN Ships involved in the Battle of the River Plate with the Graf Spey were......... HMS Achilles, Exeter and Ajax. I suspect your FIL was on Exeter as she was very badly damaged in the action. Ajax and Achilles were only slightly damaged. Problem with a Sea Battle is you have nowhere to hide. My FIL died fairly young also, age 62, and was probably due to his 5 years as a POW.
Lots of odds and ends done today. At the Post Office first time for ages, it has been refurbished, looks great. Picked up on gossip from our friends.
Generally had a good day.
Catch you all later.

Afternoon.
Hope everyone is well and warm.
Pleased that Jeans dilemma seems to be sorting itself out.
Trust Ritas' son and Mo's nephew are mending well.
My father in law was in the Navy, began as a boy rating.
He was on Ajax, Shropshire, and a couple of other County Class.
I think he was in the ship opposite the Graf Spey, whose name escapes me. He was blown off ship, and eventually pensioned out of the Navy, he was only in his 20's. He was ill from then on, and died well before his time.
Back later with luck.

Jean that is good news I am sure things will work out in the end. perhaps the girl is nervouse and relys on her Mum and the thought of being on her own ( I mean just with your son and children is a bit scary for her. but you are right to get it sorted so she cannot just come and say I want my daughter back and take her. she is a bit unstable at the moment not knowing what she wants.? Take care. Love Rita.

Hello again, thought I would bring you up to date with news. We have all agreed that baby should not go into care, Mum had agreed that her parents suggestion that baby stay here is for the best, and she will visit every day, Mum is 27, a year younger than my son, they have a house all decorated and furnished ready for them to move into, but for some reason Mum wants to stay with her parents, but they cannot cope with Mum and 2 children as they only have a 2 bedroomed house so they are over crowded and it gets very noisy at times. My son lives here with me, he works split shifts at night so needs to have some sleep during the day, but at least he sees quite a lot of baby. he spoke to Social services again and told them we dont want baby in care, the duty officer still advised him to apply for custody to prevent Mum from taking her away from here as and when she feels like it. but they did agree that she should stay within the family. and someone will still visit tomorrow.
Rita, I do hope all your blood tests results will be ok.
Mo, how is your nephew? hope he is making progress.
We have had some sun today, makes a nice change, but forecast is for rain again tomorrow.
Hope you have all had a nice day. Jeniwren xx

well I am back from my blood tests. I have to wait till Thurday for my warfarin test to come back to see if it is OK. ? then Friday I get the one for my Polymalta Rheumatica blood test results. and as I was leaving the surgery Liz the receptionist called to me and then told me Dr Kelly needs to see me for my medication medical. that is 18th Feb . the 15th I have the Scan at the Hospital. then ten days after that I have to go to the hospital for the results.then of course in Guildford. I will have another appointment for a warfarin blood test depending on the results. I called into the dentist and asked to go on their NHS list they have given me a form I counted 30 questions about my health on it. I have to fill that in and take it back this week. . I dont think they will take me on when they see the list of things I have wrong with me. ? so I am not a happy bunny today.

Morning all Back from the nurse about my weight. Well I gained 0.2 kg after being ill at Christmas and considering all the meals out and party on Saturday I am not too disappointed. But she wants to see me in 2 weeks before I go away !!! That is a day after my daughter's birthday, so not good timing again. Why do we always celebrate with meals so much now? And to refuse to go or watch everything that you eat seems so rude.
Good luck with the tooth Marilyn Hubby is off to his dentistin an hour too. He is still getting pain and sensitivity, hope he gets it sorted. Away soon ourselves.
Baby Scarlett needs you Jean, does your son live with you? Otherwise it will be a big responsibility. You won't be able to go to the horses so often. But what a great thing for you to be able to do. Is Scarletts Mum very young? Sounds like she could do with some parenting classes as well as the help from you and her own parents. Hope you can work out the best for all of you.
Linda :o) XxX

Hi everybody, just a flying visit, I'm off out in a minute.
Jean, I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles, poor little Scarlett, I hope she doesn't have to go into care. I'm sure everyone will see she's better off with her grandmother who loves her. Her other grandparents are being sensible by suggesting Scarlett's mother visits her at your house every day. I hope it works out for you all.
I'm very late now, catch you all later, have a good day.

Morning all,
As expected there is hard frost this morning, clear and bright, lovely.
Jean, What adults do to children is hard to imagine at times. So often they are left with caring grandparents who do their best to provide a safe and loving environment for them. Thank God for Grandoarents. Hope it works out well for your family.
Day off today. Mrs Stephen will no doubt be doing my head in. I think she should have been called, Maxamillion, because she Makes a Million Jobs for me. Wouldn't swap her for another though. She is probably the only person on Gods earth that can put up with me.
Rita, Watching the RN in action brought back so many memories. HMS Manchester is now one of the 'Golden Oldies' of the Navy. Way past her sell by date. The lad laughing his head off about the Coconut was priceless.
Going to visit a couple of friends where we used to live. Don't see them often so we will catch up on the gossip. That will let us get to a Post office and send off some stuff as well.
Catch you later.

Morning all. hope you had a peaceful night. Shelly, thank you for your message, I spoke to the other Grandparents late last night, Mum has been living with them for a few months with the children, they have taken over the care of Joe for the time being [the 7 year old] as he doesn't have any contact with his Dad They are coming today to see Scarlett and see if we can sort something out between us, they suggested I keep baby here and Mum comes to visit her daily, I think this is a good idea, at least it will keep the bond between them. Rita, I do hope Mike's first day home went well. May today be a good one for you all. Go with God and in good health. Jeniwren. xx
Hi Cath, thank you, hope you have a good day at work. x

Hi Stephen, Marilyn, Linda and Rita, thank you all for your messages. Scarlett is only 11 months old so luckily she doesn't realise there is anything wrong, since she was born I have had her every Wednesday for the day and every weekend Sat/Sun, so she is quite used to being here. She is a proper little Daddy's girl. We have been advised that Chris should apply for custody and I should apply for a residency order if Mum insists on putting her in care. we will know more on Wednesday. Thank you once again for your thoughts. Jeniwren. xx
