Devon Men.
There are two kinds of Devon men - those who are alive & those who are dead. Those who are dead sleep under the most expensive headstones & those who are alive seldom have time to sleep during the day.
Devon men are usually recognised by the wiry texture of their hair which is normally fair & curly, if they are not bald. They have a pair of almost lash-less bright blue eyes. They may be blue but they are rarely innocent.
Devon men are shrewd, progressive, industrious, crafty & full of guile. They are good at everything & particularly at making money. Devon men can be separated from others by the way they stand outside pubs having a smoke with their right foot at right angles to their left foot. They call this ‘the considering pose’ & is unique to Devon men. Away from the area, this pose will help you to recognise a Devon man anywhere in the world.
Devon men like beer mainly drinking direct from bottles. They smoke a lot. Devon men have a great belief in the law & have almost taken over the police force. A policeman, solicitor or a barrister, unless otherwise stated, is usually from Devon or of Devon ancestry.
Devon men hate liberalism in any form, red cards included. They hate big words & small words. They hate income tax, the cost of living & the cost of dying. Devon men are generally carefree with words because they are still relatively cheap.
Devon men make great salesmen, splendid supermarket managers, magnificent school teachers, spectacular clergy. From a national economic point of view, Devon men can be considered the country’s most indispensable citizens.
They are very good & sympathetic bank managers. In fact, the best bank managers in the world are Devon born. Quite unique. Devon bank managers can be awkward sometimes but are effective fighters especially for the right to big annual bonuses. They are excellent men managers & good card players.
In short, Devon men excel in everything they do & are spectacular in the field of commercial endeavour. When Devon men die, they go straight to Heaven. St Peter’s ancestors came from just outside of Exeter & it is reported that Devon men are in full control of the Celestial Civil Service. Don’t forget to mention Devon when you arrive at the Pearly Gates to be assured of a friendly welcome & a 10% entry fee discount before 9pm. Smart casual please.
There isn’t much else left to say. Oh yes - how could I forget? I should mention that Devon ladies are all potential Miss UK winners.
Ah! Delightful Devon in the lovely southwest.

Afternoon I wil not say good, cos unlike Pauline bathing in her sunshine, it is horrid here. Grey overcast raining and dammed miserable. I have done the washing and now tumbling the sheets and towels. Ironed all that is dry, ie hubby's white shirts !!! Ugh. Done a little cross stitch. It is a picture of sea shells in shades of pink, lilac and beige. Quite complex so I will get eye strain, but some sense of achievement. I hope to put it in the bathroom when we finally get round to replacing it. As we haven't been able to go out today I suggested to hubby that I started some decorating. Don't think he was keen.
Enjoy the rest of today, if you can.
Glad you got good results Rita and no need for so many blood tests at least for a while

Hi everybody, it's a beautiful day here, the sun is shining and not much wind.
Think I might do a little bit work in the garden before I go to see my aunt.
Pleased things went OK at the meeting Jean, little Scarlett will be well looked after by you and your son.
Mo, I feel so sorry for your friend, it's very hard work looking after an epileptic child with cerebral palsy. It's bad enough when you're young, but your friend obviously isn't that young. She'll be drained - mentally as well as physically. Is there a nursery the little girl can go to during the day, so your friend can have a break?
Shelly looks after children with special needs, she'll be able to give you some info for your friend. And Mrs Stephen will be able to give advice on the kind of help she can get. I think your friend will need all the help and advice she can get.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All Hope work is OK Cath. It will be harder at home with the potty training !!! Little M isn't that far along yet. She doesn't even tell you when she has done something yet, and when asked usually denies what is pretty obvious. Oh joy.
Quiet day today hubby is off. Not sure what we will be doing. Looks Ok outside at the moment.
I definately have washing and ironing to do but might leave that til he is back at work tomorrow for the next 7 days.
Have a good day everyone.
Jean I am glad Scarlett seems as if she can stay with family she knows and hope her Mum can sort herself out with such good support. But do take care yourself. Rita how is Mike getting on at home? Mo have you had any news on your nephew?

Thats not sad Pat, many a time I have bought books that I have already read. And that really does P. me of, as they have been re-printed with a different cover to them. And sometimes I am about a quarter of the way through before I realise I have read it.

Hi Mo, I'm not really a Danilelle Steele reader. I've read 1. The House 2.A Perfect Stranger 3. One Day At A Time.
I keep a record of the books I read! How sad is that?
