All my bags are packed and I'm ready to go,
Leaving on a 315 coach- Back Monday.

The words of Leaving on a jetplane came to mind. I lie that song.
Rita, sorry to hear Mike is feeling depressed.

Morning All.

Just got OH set up for the day, with the remote controls, papers, pen, phone etc. So he will not have to move. Not that he can.

Freezing here again this morning but bright.

Was anyone else disappointed with Marchlands? They billed it as some kind of supernatural, very spooky series, with twists and turns, but I thought it was a bit of a damp squib. The only decent performance was Anne Reid, as usual. I thought the others were a bit predictable and cardboard to be honest.

Hope everyone is warm and well. In case anyone was wondering, yes, I am still coughing. lol

See you later.

we have sunshine whoopee. makes you feel like smiling. it ia cold . not as cold as it was yesterday. thank goodness.

Mike is use to working long hours and having people around him to speak to he is a Paramdic in London he must miss all that. I do email him everyday and phone every three days. I think when you have had a serious Operation you do feel down .

I have just been listening to the radio The Tourist office want to change holidays Trafalger Day or St Georges day. or May Day.
how can they change a special important day like these.
it is suppose to be to help the tourist.
will the Welsh, the Irish and the Scotch change their special day to help the tourist ? have you every heard of anything so silly. whatever next..

Rita, I'm sorry to hear Mike is feeling so low, the days will be dragging for him. It's going take time for him to heal though. All you can do is chat to him on the phone each day and try to lift his spirits.

Shelly, I still take a fish oil capsule each day - old habits die hard.

Now what happened to Stephen yesterday, has he gone on the missing list?

Can't see Jean's name either.

We've got fog and mist today, but it doesn't seem that cold.

Good luck Cath...........LOL

Good morning everyone.
A chilly start to the day here, hope it warms up later.
Rita, sorry to hear that Mike is depressed and still suffering with the pain. You are probably right about it being worse because he's at home on his own, does he have any friends or neighbours that could pop in for a cuppa and keep him company for a while. I do hope he feels better soon.
Blimey Shelly thats an early night for you, lol..
Taking mother shopping this morning (calls up reserves of patience) and also have 2 youngest grandchildren (2 and 3 years old) to look after so will be an eventful expedition methinks!!
Hope you are all well and warm, enjoy your day,

I just had a word with my son Michael suffering depression what a worry. I live two hours away from him.
He has the district nurse come in everyday as he has a septic spot on his back where he had the operation the scar got inflamed. He said the drugs dont help his pain.
I think him being on his own while the others are working makes him worse.

Thank you all for thinking of me at the hospital. it is nice to know it will be three months before I go back to the hospital.

I am off to bed now.

I remember the sweet tobacco!

Mo in Kent Report 3 Mar 2011 20:42

Marilyn of course we will miss you at the meet, it will be so quiet without you honey.

The licorice sticks you are talking about, were they like little wooden branches from a tree.
I seem to remember something like that, but I dont recall them tasting of licorice.
I used to like the packets of sweet tobacco we used to be able to buy. They looked a bit like all bran, but tasted great.

Its not fair......I want to go to the MEET !!!

Mo & Yvonne ...you will miss me ,don't you realize that ? LOL

I too loved that Malt Mo.... I had an aunty that was a nurse and somehow she got my mum extra Malt as I used to lick it from the Jar , germs had no say in those days ..LOL

But loved the orange juice that went with it in little bottles.....hmmm.

Cod liver oil Yuk but had to have it.....washed down with orange juice.

Do any of you remember them licorice sticks , they were like twigs and we used to suck them..

Oh dear going back a bit now arent I lol

Ooh it's a good job you reminded me about Marchlands Yvonne, I dont want to miss it.

Codliver oil and malt was different to cod liver oil on it's own, now that was yuk! But with the malt added it was yummy.

Yvonne

Yvonne Report 3 Mar 2011 20:21

Yuk! cod liver oil

During the winter we had a teaspoonful of rosehip syrup, I think it was to keep colds away

Last episode of Marchlands tonight

yes Mo, I'm looking forward to the meet

I forgot about the codliver oil, Mo, we had to take a capsule every day and a spoonful of caster oil every week..........yuk!

Yvonne, it was Sunday night that we had our heads checked as well............. unless my mam found out that we'd been playing with nitty kids - then we got the dreaded comb straight away.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 3 Mar 2011 20:11

Friday night's used to be Syrup of figs night. Had to be that night, as we had no school the following day.
Every morning we were given a big spoonful of codliver oil and malt. Not many people enjoyed it, but I loved it, and would take the lid of the jar when mum wasn't looking and have an extra spoonful.

Hi Yvonne, not long now. lol

Hi everyone

Rita very pleased about your results.

My son had nits when he was in primary school, I used the lotion to clear it up then every week I'd put conditioner on his hair then comb through it.

My mum would check all of us every Sunday and we never had nits. Thats half the proplem these days some parents don't check their kids hair

Dermot thanks for keeping us up to date with the news lol

Rita, great news about your results, Im really pleased for you.
Shelly I didnt wet the bed either but my middle daughter did until she was 10. I felt really sorry for her as she would strip the bed and put sheets in wash before I could see although I never got angry with her as I knew it wouldnt help. She was also the one that bought nits home regularly!!!
Marilyn hope you are still enjoying the sun and G and T's.
Patricia i have no work until Tuesday either, its a lovely feeling.
Hello and ((((hugs)))) to everyone, off to work on my tree.

Rita Report 3 Mar 2011 18:24

well I didnt wee my bed. that maybe because I slept in a big double bed with my sister we had brass rails and knobs on the bed

Mo my Tinitus is like a russell of dried leaves and a high pitched whistling noise. it drives me up the wall it will not go for some reason usualy comes last a few days then I dont have it for a month or two.
I take a portable CD player to bed with me with ear pads and play the music. sometimes it sends me to sleep then I had to sit up turn it off and then I cannot sleep. I also have a walkman that isnt too bad as I can turn that off in bed in the dark the only trouble is it has music recorded of "Queen " " The Shadows " " Ellvis " " Susan Boyle " and more no soft music to send you to sleep.to cover the tinitus. there is no cure for it.
I can tell you it is very unpleasant to have.
