It's nice to see people on here agreeing with one another. Yes it's time for fun fun fun. So if you see others trying to pick an argument, then just egnor them and find a fun thread or a thread you like. If we all egnor the trouble makers no matter how hard they try, then they will soon go away. Replying to them only feeds them.
So lets see some fun fun fun.

hello i joke a lot but I get great encouragement from these bords I am alone alot and its good to chat ,the reason i started posting was the support that hapens when the going is tough ,

there is so much that is good about the boards and only a little that is disturbing. I am with you on this Jill, as I have been before. We do always have to try and keep the boards going for those whose life line it is, those who are housebound for one reason or another.

I have been around since May 2005 and have watched the boards with it's wittiness and it's back stabbing. I love the witty and fun threads I also add to some of the support groups but the back stabbing I keep right away from. I totally agree with you that the fun at the moment has gone out of the site. I don't post much these days simply because of all that. It is too depressing to be quite truthful.
So yes please bring back the fun I may then start posting a little more.
I also thought about not renewing my membership but the after some thought decided that the good threads outweigh the bad threads on here and decided to renew. So glad I did as I would miss all the lovely people that I know support one another
You certainly have my vote.

I sometimes have to apologise for myself because I get wound up really easily, but I work in an office and have a lot of time on my hands during the day.

I love the silly threads and the poetry and try to keep away from the debates but I think most people on here will agree I/we must try harder, I for one will.

I watched the boards before i posted on here for quite some time, i also can see who the trouble makers are.
I can separate cyber and real life, but dont have a choice like many more on here, my laptop is on from about 4am till after 10pm but on other sites to
some of us dont have a choice of a full time job ..
it would be nice to get in the car or on a bus to go to appointments even a stroll round town....without relying on family to take you....having to wait till they can fit you in around there full time jobs and families........
so im one of those whats on most of the day in between family checking on me by phone and popping in ......

try sitting in a wheelchair all day lol

I think that everyone uses these boards for different reasons....

There are people who will just flit in and out from time to time checking their hot matches and asking purely genealogy questions.

There are people who started off by doing the above then decided to participate on these threads and make some new friends.

There are people for whom these boards are a way of staying in touch with the outside world, perhaps retired folk, or housebound folk, who are on here whenever they aren't sleeping.

I think this board should be able to accommodate them all - there are different sections to go to for whatever you wish to find - there's a section for "Chat" where people can go and just chat, there's "Tips Board" and "Trying to Find" for the hardcore genealogists - this site can be all things to all people :-)

I think the main problem is people have difficulties with separating cyber fun with real life.These boards can be addictive and its plain to see that some sit on their PC 24/7 you can tell by some of the threads. “ I won’t be around in the morning I am going shopping “ sort of thing. Some of us have full time jobs and don’t sit on here 24/7 and of course there is them that need the attention.Just sit and watch them for a while as I was advised to do, you soon see who the trouble makers are. Of for my hospital appointed so I wont be a round . lol
