Hi Betty,
I wonder if it's a temperary glitch - or a new feature of the GR site?

If it's a "glitch" then maybe GR should put out a notice to that effect.

Hi Folks,
I would be interested to know how many are experiencing this constant signing in that been happening to me for the past week.
Every time I move off my tree to another page - or to view another tree, I'm having to "sign in" again.
Have signed in eight times tonight - very frustrating

Just found the info about the co.za website so will give it a try, thanks Tricia!

Have alot of freezing up problems but I think it's my laptop rather than GR as it happens with everything, but it's nice not to see all the ads flashing away at least.

Another problem I'm having at the moment is I have to keep signing on again to see my threads or tree; I seem to get signed out somehow without doing anything!

Bren from Oldham Report 1 Dec 2008 15:26

Got on to site earlier but then it wouldn't open general or tips board then my comp froze yet again

Tried again when I had sorted things out and got on without any trouble

My d-i l in Australia told me that they are having the same sort of problems there when I spoke to her at lunchtime

Jane Report 1 Dec 2008 15:22

This is the response I have had today from GR regarding this matter. Perhaps we had all better contact them to let them know there is a problem as they just cant see it.

Dear Jane,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I have just tested this and have been unable to recreate this problem.
If the error persists, I would be grateful if you would let me know which operating system and browser (and version of that browser) that you are using to access the site in order that I may attempt to recreate this issue and further investigate for you. If you could also give me step-by-step details of what is happening when you try to do this, then that'd be really helpful.

Many thanks in advance of your co-operation.

Best regards,

Alex Brett

BrianW Report 1 Dec 2008 10:22

Mine was freezing on Genes last night.
I'm in GR on dot com, so not confined to the UK site.
No other web pages were affected, even with multiple windows open, so definitely a GR problem.

weirdwizard Report 1 Dec 2008 08:42

weirdwizard Report 1 Dec 2008 08:39

There seems to be a lot of threads about this. I put one on myself a few days ago. Shame GR is not taking any notice of it and sorting it out. But then I would not expect anything better from them. Its never their fault after all.

Sprack Report 1 Dec 2008 07:44

Mine has been the same for three days now but I couldn't see any mesages from other genes members about it so I thought it was only me, then like Liz I found a thread on another site about it yesterday.
It seems to be only in the mornings on mine though and ok later in the day.

(I've just switched to the South African link and had no problems getting on)

I read on another thread to come on to gr via gr za so that's what I have been doing last night and today, no silly ads all over the place and touch wood, plain sailing!

The Firefox browser with Adblock plus is a much more effective way of blocking adverts. It is a free download.

Flash talking is an adserver.

Gonna get chucked off in a minute. Yet again.

Bottom of screen says waiting for video flashtalking.com.

Dianne Report 30 Nov 2008 14:32

Mine does it too but only when I am on GR.

In addition to the freezing up thing, my screen goes totally black and I can't do anything, not even to turn the computer off by the button on the tower. It just won't have it. I have to flick the switch at the wall socket and restart everything from scratch.

Also I get messages that my computer has recovered from a serious error.

All these things only happen when I am on GR, no other sites.
