OH....My... Goodness!

Why the hell would a man called William married to an Elizabeth let his son called William also marry an Elizabeth?

*weeps*

I have all these:

1755 - Robert Belcher 02 JUN 1755
1757 - James Belcher FEB 1757
1761 - Richard Belcher 04 JAN 1761
1762 - Daniel Belcher 12 APR 1762
1764 - Elisabeth Belcher 22 APR 1764
1767 - Martha Belcher 20 JAN 1767**
1770 - Ann Belcher 02 SEP 1770
1771 - Thomas Belcher 03 MAR 1771
1773 - Elizabeth Belcher 14 FEB 1773
1775 - William Belcher 26 FEB 1775
1776 - Daniel Belcher 22 SEP 1776
1776 - Esther Belcher 15 SEP 1776
1777 - Mary Belcher 28 SEP 1777
1780 - John Belcher 20 FEB 1780
1780 - Henery Belcher 30 JUL 1780
1782 - Martha Belcher 04 AUG 1782
1782 - Charles Belcher 03 NOV 1782
1783 - Charles Belcher 03 AUG 1783
1785 - Robert Belcher 18 DEC 1785

All with the parents William and Elizabeth in West Hanney. (apparent marriage in 1853)

How on earth do I work out which are Martha's** siblings and which are her nephews/nieces?

Olde Crone's tips for using the IGI are great - so is one further on - about page 11/12 I think - about pressing Ctrl and F. Helped me loads and really speeded things up.

I know - it's the excitement - gets me all of a dither! I found records for my OH's direct line going back to 1640 and apart from the fact I was reeeeely jealous I was jumping up and down in the chair getting all overheated!!!

Janice. arrrrgh, there's an insane number of Belchers there LOL. I'll stick with searching the other way thanks anyway.

Why can't my people have uncommon names for the areas?

Go to

and select country, county, town then which church records you want.

just use it as guide - be wary - when I started out I can recall arguing in a Mormons Record Office that there had to be children shown for a couple I had found only to be told there must not be any - when I pointed out they were my g.g.parents and I would not be here if they were childless. Even 20 years later as far as IGI is concerned they are still childless.

What was the record you found last week - what was her name - and details?

I don't think they're rotated. I think they just add new ones occasionally.

Can you find it by going through Hugh Wallis batch numbers?

So you're saying I have to keep searching repeatedly for all my rellies? EEP! Tried searching for her everyway I can. I know I got it from there because I make a note of the source. Just my luck LOL.
