Claddagh........people are getting wiser about collectables etc in general so it isn't often that one finds anything that is actually worth anything but none the less the bargins are still out there.......lol

But having said that , I'll buy any old tat when the jumble excitement is on me........lol

I love going to jumble sales/flea markets, but you don't find any really juicy ones nowadays.

I like the sound of the Harrods bag........lol

It's awful that people actually steal the clothes from jumble sales , it's not as if it is going to cost much , I don't understand that at all.

At a jumble sale once , I bought two "barley twist" dining chairs ( for £1 each ) , lugged them all the way home , thinking I had swooped a bargin , only to find out they were riddled with wood worm , the legs snapped off very quickly : (

Indeed Ann........I was chatting to a lady once in a jumble sale queue, who had had her purse stolen on one occasion........I take loose change in my pockets and my bag crossed over my front.....thank you for the warning though.

Never ceased to amaze me when I used to help at jumble sales 30 years ago, the number of thieves there are. you have to have eyes in the back of your head. I would suggest you watch your bag closely too.

I do enjoy going to a jumble sale......it's not just because of the chance that the elusive Ming dynasty vase or Clarice Cliff tea set might just turn up for 20p ( ever the optimist )..........its just the atmosphere in general and the chance to "people watch" that appeals to me.

I never manage to be one of the first in , that is the place of the "elite" jumblers.....the early birds ( who no doubt get all the Mings) they must arrive at least an hour before opening.

Different folk use different tactics to get the best places at the tables , pushing and shoving , weaving and the long arm stretch.....but by far , the worse ones to encounter at close quaters are "the stinkers "....they can clear a space at the table in seconds and none can withstand them, they ae worse than germ warfare..........we have three in our area and they go to all the jumble sales ( yet they are always wearing the same clothes ? )

I am looking forward to 2.30pm tomorrow ,Methodist church hall , here I come........wish me luck : )
