I would say that anyone who responded with caring and genuine thoughts to keep on doing that. For everyone who takes people for a ride there are many more in need of help. We can't let one person make people feel foolish when all they wanted to do was help someone in distress.

It was still the right thing to do as Sheila has said...i would rather be made to look a fool by a 'scammer' than to walk away ifrom someone who really needed help...

if that makes me a mug, so be it... :)) won't be the first time or the last... but 'what goes round comes round 'I believe!

I am going to look at the positive side of all this.....Margaret may have been pulling a fast one...why I dont know BUT the way you all reacted, even though there were some doubts, was amazing!!

All Margaret's antics, if they were false, have done is shown everybody not directly involved what brilliant people we have on here!

So I still applaud you all...Job Well Done

If I'm right I think Margaret has posted on the Tips or Records board and has posted a couple of contentious threads over there. I may be wrong but when I sent her a PM her name looked familiar.

I was on that thread all the time that afternoon and evening.
What a pity if it was some sick joke.BUT if it wasn't we all did the right thing,and tried to be supportive.
If I saw the same kind of thing again I would still do the same as on here you just don't know what is real or not.,and one day it really may be someone in trouble.

As someone who has just finished a late shift with really poorly people and is back on duty at 7.30 tomorrow and has not got a day off till next saturday may i just say to this person if it is/was a hoax you may have wasted my day off but hey you have not changed me in what i would do again if the same issue appeared on the board, but just remember you might NEED someone like me or the other caring people on here one day yourself.................

Yes, I remember that now that you mention it. I seem to remember her posting on a thread about people not responding to their own threads asking for help with family research. I could be wrong.

Not being funny ,but maybe Margaret is home from hospital and not at SIL.She may have some kind of Issues(not physical) and this is why her behaviour is strange.
Just a thought.

This may have been a hoax .................. but as far as I am concerned ............. the hoax never got off the ground.

But what must have struck each and every one of us looking on was the humility that once more overflowed from the finest people on this site.

I have no doubt that many of you could not help but feel that a hoax were in the offing.

But you all showed that you cared .................... just in case Margeret's plight were true

The hoax is an irrevelance.

For what this little exercise has shown is that the grass roots of GR is still very much alive and kicking.

And that is the ultimate satisfaction.

You all showed you care and thats a good thing. But
Your also quick to blame a member on here too. Not everything is always as it seems. I don't know what happened and i guess nobody will. I'll say this though GR is not a secure site and it's been known in the past for other members to get into other members accounts, so just coz 2 people have the same number it might not stand that the member you accuse is guilty of anything. Just something for you to think about.

So we all agree, if we where all Mugs then where proud to be one ;O)
On the positive side of all this, whether it was a hoax or not does not matter, each of us agree that if this where to happen again, we would still all do the same thing, and would not be put of by this incidence, and that is what is important here.
That none of the members are wary about helping each other out again, should the need arise.

Lets all pat ourselves on the back, and be happy that no harm has been done :O)

Ron I do understand what you are saying...it is possible that someone used the number to their own ends....

in any event...if Margaret truly needed help she got it which is all that matters...if not , well those who responded took the time and trouble to do so which is very heartening :)

I agree with what you say. But reading this and other threads put up last night, Nameless others have accused another member. I did ask if they had proof on one thread and it was deleated seconds later. Another thread was put up about it, so i asked again and got the reply... No it was all only hear say. In my view if somebody belives everything they read on here then maybe they should be told a lot of the trouble that starts on here is made up of untrue statements. Just my view is all.

How Lucky we are to have caring people like yourselves to try to help (albiet) people with a mind like this or problem..I know that G U have my details and I hope that as a responsible site we could report a thread such as Margaret's and the suitable help could be found for her..Well Done for being such caring individuals Thank God for people who care..Sarah
