They really are quite easy to make....just time consuming to stand and cook.
A heavy duty frying pan or similar is OK for cooking them if you haven't got a bakestone.

EDIT
Our family cook then freeze

after i would think i dont know realy in our house they're gone as soon as i've cooked them i always sprinkle mine with castor suger but some people like to put butter on them, you can also split them and put jam in the middle for those leave the currants out or sultanas you can use to

We do the same, ..no butter.
That goes on the pikelets / dropped scones.

I've seen Welsh cakes in Asda sometimes and that was in Bridgwater in Somerset.

My Lincolnshire granny used to call crumpets pikelets.

I sometimes make drop scones (aka Scotch Pancakes) and they are yummy with my home made bramble jelly.

I want some . . . if I get them here I have to make them myself. They do freeze well, if they make it to the freezer LOL
Now where did I put my converted recipe??
have one for Bara brith also, must make some again, soak the fruit in strong tea before mixing into the batter.
