I'm 70 and I am told I am having my ears pierced and a tatoo. My grandaughter 18 has told me that when I die I am having both. Shan't care much then but I will not have a tatoo while i'm alive don't like them. Elaine.

i have 2, a eeyore with daughters name small on my belly, and a butterfly design on the base of my back with my sons name.. i really like tattoos, my oh likes them on him but not on me.

i think its the choice of the person having it.
i love mine because they mean something.

LOL Maggie, barbed wire anklet around swollen angles - what an image that paints in my head...I might get that done just so I can make people tut when my legs are all swollen and varicose veined *grins*

PMSL @ cobweb

Some people suit tattoos and other's don't, a lot depending on the tattoo. My brother wants a dragon on his leg and he's asked his son (who's a talented artist even at just 14) to design one for him. It has to be better than the hideous 'beast' on his back. Think mum would take a cross over the devil any day.

Speaking of Crosses, I love the one that Abby from NCIS has on her back, it's stunning. But if you're not religious it seems kind of stupid to have a tattoo of a cross.

There' s also something strange about a 60 year old woman with swollen ankles and an 'anklet' of barbed wire tattooed on!!! May have looked nice once......

At 52, I have decided that. If I ever had a tattoo done, it would be a spider on my shoulder and it's cobweb in my armpit!! When I get to the stage where I let my (by then white) 'pit' hair grow, it would describe my house - cobwebs & fluff!! LOL

I agree with you Joy that they look awful as they fade, the colour goes and the patterns do not look fresh any more. (But I still love him faded tattoos and all.LOL).

I hate them, I'm sorry to anyone who has them and loves them.... but I don't.
My husband has been all around the world in the Merchant Navy, for 20 years, and still does not have a tattoo.
They have become so popular just now haven't they?
I keep thinking, what are they going to look like when their bodies get old and saggy??
What will their lovely tattoos look like stretched and droopy?? ;-0)

Still, I suppose they have to do what they have to do.

When I met the OH he had 2 (he was in the Army). After 40 years I have gotten used to them and they have faded sssssssoooooooo much now.
I must admit as a `silversurfer` I have always wanted a small butterfly tattoo on my ankle but have not plucked up the courage. Maybe your grandson will stop having them done now or does he want more?
