Daff - you can talk to the warden without giving any specific details and just see what he says - he might be able to just have a friendly word with the owner without taking any 'action' as such - then if it doesn't improve you have grounds to make it more official ........

But evenso the dog won't get into trouble - she is just doing what comes naturally - but whoever is in charge of her has the responsibility to make sure she is under control.

At the end of the day, dogs are just like kids, they are full of excess energy and just want to play lol

I agree,it was sheer Ignorance on the owners part.
This is why certain breeds get such bad press, some Owners are just so stupid!
I find it crazy that he did not have the Dog on a lead,Stupid Man!

my son has 3 dogs he would never leave them off the lead unless he's up the mountain where nobody else is around and they only wee when they are out they do their poos in the yard part of the garden ,if i was the dogs owner i would want to be told that the minder was irresponsible

Hi Roxanne, I do, too... we always looked after other peoples' dogs when they went back to the uk on leave.... or if they had to go on extended tours of duty... I had a 6 month old Dobie for 5 months once, lol... and would never have let them off the lead unless I was certain they came back instantly on the recall, or would respond to any other command from a distance! In fact, I did all the initial training for the Dobie!!

My own husband and sons were not allowed to take my GSD out off the lead... she would leg it at the first opportunity for anyone but me... my sons were in their mid-teens at the time, so not small children.

I have phoned the local authority... no dog wardens are available at the moment, but they have taken a report, and one of the wardens will contact me when they can. If I am going to dognap this dog, I'd better find out if it is legal to do so, lololol!

Hi Christine... I had taken the telephone number off the tag... so I gave that to the person who took my report. The person walking the dog is an older, very posh speaking man... posh car, too..... and I got the impression that he is looking after her for a relative, but not really sure why I have formed that impression, whether it was something he said or an assumption I have made.

We'll see what happens now......

*hangs head in shame* No... I was seething... but it was a big BMW, estate car, all shiny and brand new with a 58 registration.... dark blue... can't be many of them around, lol!!

I might google and see what type it is... I have to say, I wish I'd let the tyres down, or put sugar in the petrol cap.... and that is sooooo childish of me ;¬))

Gosh Daff, ... I can just picture the scene.
You're braver than me in catching the dog, even if it was placid with you.
As you say, what about if your grandaughter had been with you? At the very least he could have knocked her down on his mission to chase the cats.

Hi Gwyn.... and you have been there..... so you would know that if the dog was coming down the road........ and her walker was the other side of the fence near my beautiful pylon.... well...... she had gone the long way around to get there.

I think the dog might have come off worse with Princess Thugette, mind ;¬))

I dont normally post to many things but I feel that I must say somethiing first daff you did a brave thing in catching that dog, secondly there is a much wide ppicture to this you say that she had to cross main road etc what if she had caused an acciedent and a child or someone had died thriough this mans stupid actions. I feel that he should be reported.

Hi Bellblair... thank you for that... yes, I have contacted the local authority, and the warden will get back to me as soon as they are able to. It doesn't bear thinking about, does it, that this man's actions could have resulted in a nasty accident....

I really wasn't brave... the dog was clearly not aggressive.... she came to me as soon as I called her.... it showed that she has had some good quality training.... but I am certain she knew that this man is not top dog, lol!! Apart from which... it was my old girl Polgara she was running after into the house...... I was really anxious that the dog didn't get to Pol!
