No Karen.... I don't get cross at all..... I think that it is really good that we are shown that no matter why we are, or became, British, the records may still, somewhere, be out there... and if it takes the odd celebrity or 5 to show us this hope.... then so be it... and at the end of the day.... it is all about entertainment... I'd rather this than some of the trash that our licence fees pay for!!

lol Karrie, good! xx

Skeletons are rattling out of my closets, that's what's makes it so interesting. In fact a normal family would be a curiousity.

Funny thing is, everything the oldies ever said has been proven right so far, except one rumour, that I am hotly pursuing.

You're lucky then Helen!!!

Everything my Granny has ever told me and still tries to tell me is absolute codswallop, which makes this all the more bloody difficult!!!!

I guess it is better than Jeremy Kyle or tosh of that ilk Daff, I'll stop moaning now and leave you in peace

I've learnt far more about history from watching this show than I ever did in History in school.

I'm no expert but I would suspect anti-semitism originally started as a fear of such strong beliefs, or maybe out of 'our faith is the true faith' sentiments. These days the prejudice comes from the lies and crap that is spouted by the neo's (such as the BNP) who refute that the holocaust even happened. It's sickening that we seem incapable of learning from the past mistakes and fostering a stronger feeling of tolerance all round.

There doesnt seem to be a why?, just because they could, Jews were blamed for all their woes,
and when they had cleared all the Jews out the problems were still there.
The communities fizzled out as the trade and commerce the Jewish brought with them disappeared. Its seems a lesson never learned.... just because they were different????

Years back the Christian church's blamed the Jews for the crucifixion of Christ.

I can never understand how people can condemn someone of a different religion. I don't care what religion anyone is. The only thing I object to is certain ones knocking on the door.
What we have to remember is that Jesus was a Jew NOT a Christian. Christianity was started by his disciples.

I wouldn't want anyone to research any of my trees and hand it to me - you would read it - llok at the dates etc and that is it. In my hunts over past 20 years I have come to know them individually - some questions never to be answered like why did a master cordwainer leave his shop and trail his wife around south of england having a child in different places (that caused me years of hassle) and decided to settle in London of all places and him with asthma? The thrill of the hunt is good - speculation is good - sometimes you find you were up a blind alley and others you were right!

As to the jews - well they stick together and help one another out and from the worst hardships families have risen again - our lot are too busy in the main looking after themselves!

At the moment I am cursing the troubles in Dublin in 20's when they burned a lot of records and wishing they would put 1901 census on line along with what BMD they have!!!!

The one that annoys me about this programme is that is shows people walking into a library. of all places and being handed a certificate..!! Or walking into a Reg office and getting the certs there and then,
How many beginers thought they could just do that?
