My brother has had upset tummy for 4 weeks , has lost a stone , sore behind, not eating , passing mucus . He went to Gp 4 times -no joy so on Thurs said to him send me to hospital . He did, x-ray -all clear , blood tests all clear , found blood in stool , now he has to wait for colonoscopy. I`m thinking IBS , Diverticulitis, he`s mentioned internal piles -ie fissures. Doctors --at hospital don`t know but he`s out now and on strong painkillers.

How miserable for your poor brother. I do hope he finds out what is wrong quickly and receive treatment. I've felt very much under the weather this week with tummy probs, but nothing like as bad as his.

Hello Ros,

My Dad had very similar symptoms 6 years ago, it turned out he had polys in his bowel, one of which had turned cancerous. He had a large part of his intestine taken away.

The good news is is has been fabulously healthy since and looks years younger than 75, still fixes cars , roofs, plumbing etc!!!

Hope all is ok, love,

Caz xxxxxx

Hope your brother gets the colonoscopy soon and all is well, Ros.
So worrying and harder to cope with when embarrassing symptons and bit of your body you can't see!

I've had similar symptoms. But not the weight loss or not eating (would have been happy with that!!)

The runs or constipated...very rarely anything in between.
Blood & Mucus in stools.
Bleeding as going to loo.
Piles (internal n external)
Tummy cramp.

Had colonoscopy, given the all clear so Dr's have put it down to IBS.

Hope he gets it sorted soon....

Did I say I had the symptoms...I meant someone I know...lol ;o)

Good luck xx

He`s paid for a private colonoscopy -nothing found , but now lost 2 stone . I said to him last week -that he`ll probably eat better now that`s everything is negative. My sister sent him a leaflet on depression and that`s what he has and been put on Citalopram. He`s a worrier--a lawyer, Ros xx

It seems to run in the family -my sister had depression at Uni , but I`m okay and I`ve had a lot more to worry about than them . My sister`s hubby and daughter both have / had depression.
