Falling for a Dancer by Deirdre Purcell - nearly read it in one go, and the books she wrote which followed some of the characters - brilliant Irish writer

If you like 'Katherine' you would probably enjoy 'Desiree' by Annemarie Selinko.
Again, a real historical character. She was the first love of Napoleon Bonaparte, but of course he went on to bigger and better things.
However, Desiree ended up being Queen of Sweden, so did quite well for herself too!
This has been republished quite recently so you should be able to find a copy. It was originally written in French in 1953.
I hope you can find it.

My all time favourite has to be Pride & Prejudice,I first read it for my "O" level in 1969. Lost count of the number of times I've read it since and this thread has reminded me to dig it out because I don't think I have read it since the Millenium.
