I have met Princess Ann but I was only 11 at the time. Does it still count? She was pleased that some of the army children had come to meet her and we had had the day off school. I can still remember her fur coat that she had. She said to " Has Mummy let you have the day off to see me? " lol. Lynette

I sent a letter to Daily Mail a few years ago, regarding an article they had written about was there a curse on the Monaco Royal Family.

Their family name is Grimaldi, and one of their forefathers was a Pirate called Grimaldi, who raided Southampton, and built Monaco on the proceeds, so I said could this be pay back time for them.

I had Photographers down, and Reporters, and low and behold the next day there was I in all my glory on the Readers Letters page.

Just one day of fame.

Saw just about everybody, who's anybody at John Peels funeral.

He lived in a village nearby, so the funeral was held in the cathedral in Bury St Edmunds.

My sis worked in The Queens Head pub (30 seconds from the cathedral) and all the "stars" went back there for drinks afterwards. I chatted to Billy Bragg about coffee at the bar, stood next to Robert Plant, opposite Liz & Andy Kershaw...the place was full to the brim with people old & new, from the music industry.

Jack White, Jarvis Cocker, Jo Whiley, Mark Radcliffe, Paul Gambacinni (sp),,,,,Never seen anything quite like it.

The service was relayed to everyone in the grounds outside, it was really moving and had some seriously funny anecdotes too. His coffin was lead away to strains of "Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones, his all-time favourite song, the lyrics are written on his headstone at Gt Finborough churchyard.

An incredible send off, for an incredible man.

I forgot. I also went to school with John Fashanu the footballer. We were in the same form for the five years at high school.

Used to play piano in a jazz band(late 50's early 60's).
It was a jazz club with "Mersey beat" bands filling in at the interval.The Beatles ,Rory Storm and the Hurricanes,Swinging Blue Jeans etc etc were our fill in bands.At the time Ringo Starr was with Rory Storm,hadn't got his own kit,and our drummer reluctantly let him use his.
Have had our own spots on a Granada programme called People and Places with Bill Grundy and Gay Byrne ...black and white....and had to have gold dust sprayed on my hair to show it up.On radio a few time on Mostly Jazz.
Met the Queen Mum at Westminster Abbey,and talked to Princess Margaret,and done a massage on Angus Ogilvy...princess Alexandra's late husband..
..I mean a relaxing one not one that might spring to mind with some of you!

Once interviewed by the local press when one of the vans i was responsible for was stolen and used in a ram raid on a Currys shop.

Also Carl Froch the boxer goes to the same dentist as me.

Forgot i also once played golf with Duggie Brown the comedian.

Even sadder.

I knew lots of the Norwich footballers when they all used to go to a nightclub I frequented, there was a room sponsored or something by the Lotus car people ( this was in Norwich in the early/mid 70's) so all the players used to go there. Went out with a couple of them for a while, not at the same time lol, but no names, no pack drill.
Also met the band Dart, when they had been on in Norwich one night, and ended up spending most of the night in one of their rooms, partying with them and some friends. Still got the Dart Attack album and tape they gave me when I went home.

Saw Jimi Hendrix live at a tiny cellar club in Norwich, and Alan Price Set, Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and many other bands of that era. Met the Kinks after a show one night too.

I got in the Lonely Planet (I might still be there) recommending my delightful plum crumbles, does that count??.

I kicked keith chegwin at an outside broadcast for a swap shop, he came running through the crowd and i caught my foot with his shin!
At the same gig (back in the 70's,) eddie kidd was doing some motor cycle stunts, we went to his caravan after and he came out and me and my friend ran over and kissed him.
Saw Barry from "aufeidersein pet "on a tube and we shouted "Barry, Barry" and ran over to his window and blew kisses, he laughed.

I was picked at random from the electoral roll and invited to be part of a citizens' panel in a EU project.

12 people from the UK, and from all sorts of backgrounds, spent nearly 2 years finding out about advances in brain science....such as the latest treatments for dementia.

We discussed ethical problems and made recommendations to the House of Commons. People from 9 European countries with the same sort of panels got together in Brussels twice. About 130 of us worked on producing a European report with recommendations.

So as a result I have been upstairs in private committee rooms in the House of Commons twice and sat in the main hall in the European Parliament in Brussels.

I was one of a few panelists asked to give a short speech at a conference of neuroscientists in the London School of Economics and we had dinner at a banquet in Lincoln's Inn that evening. My speech is still online!

What I am pleased about is that I can recognise some ideas in the final European report as ones I originally suggested during earlier meetings and both the EU parliament and our own UK one have already taken notice and acted on some of our recommendations to make life better for people affected by brain disorders.

OH and I went to see X Factor and sat in seats directly behind Simon Cowell. Every time Simon or Louis were asked to give their opinion we were see on TV

I see James Wilby and his family quite regularly, but at first never knew who he was or what he had been in. Still not entirely sure.

Went to school with Robin Cousins (Ice Skater).
SIL was in the film Memphis Belle if that counts.
