i wasn't even born in the 60s but i do know that womens liberation movement did alot for women in so many ways.....were as previously they had felt stifled and suffocated....so definately a good thing :))))))

I would say WW2...I think it changed peoples way of thinking in general....Women where appreciated more too. xx

I would think it would be a culmination of all those things as they are all intertwined! One paving the way for the other. Mary Wolstencroft wrote a Vindication of the Rights of Women" way before the suffragettes and don't forget that ww1 had a major impact on British Society!

WW1 created the suffraggettes- lack of men returning and lots of spinisters. WW2- woman had to keep the home fires burning and created a 'can do' attitude

If we didn't have one we wouldnt have the other.

Personally wasnt keen on the 'burning bra' brigade, and 'if you cant beat em join em.'

I still like to be feminine I dont want to be a bloke just want to have equal rights- employment, pay, opportunities.

Interesting, actualy this was a debate on another site and a lot said the 60s

Probably World War 2 as that, for the first time in history, got almost all the women into the work-force and showed society that women could do so much more than stay at home looking after the menfolk and having children.

For me I think the suffragettes as it was them that lit the spark which has moved women into wanting and earning equality.

i would say the 1960s....lot more freedom of choice :))))))))))

Suffragettes, campaigned for women’s rights to vote, and for equal rights.

But by the 1930s, social roles were still clearly defined. --
“A woman's place was in the home, -- a man's place was out at work.”

Then, World War 2, saw women working the land, building tanks, working in rescue teams, and operating behind enemy lines.

Today, we have the gains of the Social, and Feminist Movements, of the 1960s.
