lol Kathryn...errrrr....I probably did it cos it was an ill thought out spur of the moment thing - just a crappy post on a message board as opposed to a dissertation;)

And b) cos there's flap all happening on here this evening and people were probably over excited in case it was going to be something of great interest or importance - must have been disappointing. And also, we are attempting to be witty when we slip in first, looking impatient:)

Okay Uggers -- why do people do this?

Why start a thread with a post that says nothing, and then get around to putting a post with the content in it?

It's beyond me.

What happens every single blasted time is someone comes along in the meantime and asks what the question is, or what someone is pulling his/her hair out over.

(a) What's the point of the vacant opening posts?

(b) Why hasn't everybody figured out that this is what people do, for whatever reason they do it, and so why doesn't everybody just wait the two minutes it takes for the next post to come along?

Just one of those things I lie awake at night wondering about. I'm sure you have the answers!

Uggers - my computer is switched off also, but according to my Facebook account I am online all the time!! get it?

I'm glad you are feeling better anyway, and back at work, getting a sun tan!

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 8 May 2008 23:05

You're right Uggers - some people must add friends of friends. I think I have about 12 people and don't always talk to them all.

I have notice it David, but I haven't had time to really explore it. I invited my son to be my friend so I can message him etc. while he's in East Timor and he told me definately no. He didn't want me to read his stuff on Facebook. Wonder why?

No Jac cos I switch my pc off when I'm not here:))) And I'm back at work now.

Sue have you found the pop up chat thing yet? Oh I blocked a load of people from seeing my profile when I joined. Some from my dubious past, some I went to school with who are friends of my friends, even a couple of people off here. Yes I'm in great demand lol. Have you not noticed some people will add anyone - I have mates with 150+ friends and I've never liked that many people in the whole of my life...

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 8 May 2008 22:57

What do you mean you've blocked loads of people? Are you telling us you have legions of people just begging to be your friend and you need to block some? I didn't realise you saw me as a stalker lol
Sue xx

Jac Report 8 May 2008 22:54

Well just stay online all the time, and be selective as to who you talk to, and how often you want to talk to them- would that not be possible?

Uggers

Uggers Report 8 May 2008 22:51

nooo Jac - I thought you could hide your online/offline status but I'm no longer sure...

I've blocked loads of people:)

Jac

Jac Report 8 May 2008 22:49

You can block someone I think - depends on whether you want to speak to the person sometimes, often, seldom or never - the choice is yours love!!

Uggers

Uggers Report 8 May 2008 22:45

Isn't there a way of not showing your online as well instead of having to press individual dots and pictures?

Gypsy

Gypsy Report 8 May 2008 22:44

Yeah I know the feeling, I have to do that on msn or my nieces bombard me, and I can't do anything else!

Uggers

Uggers Report 8 May 2008 22:44

Jac:)) I didn't even know about that chat thing until up popped Pat and then Lynda and then my sister in law lol

Uggers

Uggers Report 8 May 2008 22:43

pmsl Pat - it's someone I was at school with and haven't seen since. Really nice and don't want to hurt their feelings but I don't want to chat with them *every* time I go on.

Jac

Jac Report 8 May 2008 22:42

There is a little box thing on the right bottom corner, which says you can have a red spot, a green spot or something else (I forget which) which will allow you to not appear on line.

I dont ever log off so no one knows if I'm there or not - pmsl

Why dont you just ignore them? you do me - pmsl

And it aint me stalking you - ))))
