What a magnificent morning. The sun is peeking over the hills and the subtle smoking trails of the early morning dew departing drift silently across the fields.

Lambing is almost finished, but every morning the newborn totter round their mother’s legs, nuzzling and nudging for the rich milk that will nourish and sustain them.

What a lot of baby rabbits there are now! They are running everywhere, frolicking and cavorting, full of the joy of life. The birds have gone slightly quieter these past few days, their song muted to background and incidental music. The woodpigeon is the loudest now, his cooing harkening memories of long lost summer days, picnics and bottles of homemade lemonade.

Has anyone noticed the abundance of butterflies? Especially the red admirals and tortoiseshells, they are everywhere. What a lovely sight, seeing the golden morning sun reflecting off their kaleidoscopic colours. The early plants are just coming into bloom and the gentle buzzing of the wild honey bees adds its own soporific effect to the morning.

Oh well, I must get a cup of refreshing tea. What’s this between my toes? Oh dear. I knew I shouldn’t have let Dan and Mac, the two labs, finish off that ruby last night. And I must remember to put my slippers on in the future. Where’s the pressure washer? I wonder if it will lift the floor tiles…….
