I don't think he was even 10 years old.
It seems to me that the papers don't tend to be interested when boys go missing overly much. When Jessica and Holly and the circus the media whipped up over them was happening two boys of about the same age also went missing and were found murdered. They merited one report on them going missing in the middle of the papers and a small report when they were found.

i just about remember Ben Needham (the little boy in Greece),but i think it was more a programme interviewing his mother.I just think its a disgrace that the media dont keep going until an outcome is found, will certainly be lighting a candle for Daniel this Saturday.

My thoughts for his family at this sad time. I can only begin to imagine what they feel like from a) when my son was missing for about 5 hours when he ran off when he was 11, fortunately we found him on his bike in the Forest of Dean. The police were just about to put it on TV, that was in 1978. We were at our wits end not knowing where he was. And
b) from when my niece ran away from home aged 16 and her bike was found in her home town centre. She was eventually found after about 3 months in London.
It is the not knowing that is so awful. But both ours were relatively short lived. To not know for years is unbelievable.

Why isnt more done ???

I remember Daniel Entwhistle going missing and I think everyone felt certain he had gone into the river and been swept out to sea, there was a lot of coverage in the local papers and on tv and I assume there would have been info in national papers too at the time. I think because of the probability of him being lost in the water it wasn't much considered that it was an abduction case. I think I am right in saying he was a very overactive lad, adhd? and so very likely to have been scrambling about by the river edge or more. It isn't a gentle river bank but a concrete edge I think I recall.
The reason why Maddy's case has such high profile is because of the place she was snatched from I think, and of course, because all the family members made sure it was kept high profile.
A missing child is a tragedy at any time or place and to any 'class' of family and we should all make sure we look out well for our own kids and other people's too.

Yes purple diamond he was a lively lad, and a very lovable one at that. I do not remember lots on TV coverage though. The family do feel resentful (and who wouldnt?) that he doesnt get huge international, or even national media coverage.
Thanks for the nice messages re: Daniel, I'll message his aunty Carli now, I know the family will appreciate your kind thoughts.

I'm very sorry to say that I never heard about this poor little lad. For a short while in this country did they introduce missing photo's on milk cartons? More desperately needs to be done to solve these cases when children go missing.

My thoughts and prayers go to all of this boys family and to all those in similar situations.

God Bless.

it's threads like this that make you think all the crap that goes on esp on here - is just rubbish compared to a missing child like Daniel and others.

RS can't his family contact a national newspaper asking for some coverage? It is so sad. I remember this story at the time on the news & no, it has not had enough exposure.

We should bring in the Child Rescue Alert (Amber Alert) system....asap..

My thoughts & prayers are with the family.
