Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 28 Apr 2008 01:07

Jean, I too was going to suggest the Rescue Remedy, not just for now but for anytime with the panic attacks.
I hope all goes well at the appointment, maybe plan something nice to do a few days after the apptmt so you have something to look forward to.
I can't add anymore to the info already given, I have recently been to my gp as I was so sore but she checked me and found no lumps but put me on oestrogen for the discomfort. I felt very lucky and will be keeping a check on myself but the oestrogen 'pellets' she prescribed seem to have helped and I am not so uncomfortable now.
Will be thinking about you, lots of luck.

Jean

I have also PMd you.

Just a thought, in view of the fact that you have family who have been dignosed with BC. Have your family been screened for the BRCA gene? It may be worth your while checking that out too, perhaps they will do that for you anyway.

Best wishes,
Lyn x x x x

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for ALL the positive replies and wonderful words of comfort. It's definitely made me feel more at ease.
It's a lot easier "talking" about it on here, because i'm not as emotionally involved with the folk here as i am with my "personal" friends and family.(Hope that doesn't sound rude, cos it's not meant too)
I don't post very often, but i promise to keep you all informed of any outcome.

Love and hugs and many many thanks

Speaking from experience the worst thing for me was actually going to the doctor innitially..I walked into the room and burst into tears!
I am very 'private' when it comes to my body and felt soo self concious being examined.
I was sent strainght to hospital for an examination and a biopsy....
Bit of advice just for your own comfort and dignity - Take your own dressing gown with you!
Will be thinking positive strong thoughts for you - I'm a pm away if you need anything...

Jean, as you may know, I was diagnosed with bc in Jan 07 having found a lump in my armpit. At the breast clinic I was given a mammogram but nothing was found, so I then had an ultrasound scan. In my case the scan showed an enlarged lymph node so I had a biopsy done on that a few days later. Nothing scary happens at the clinic, it's waiting for results that are the worst thing.

Hopefully you will not have bc...9 out of 10 lumps are benign...but if, as in my case, something sinister is found, then you should receive prompt treatment to get it dealt with. Try not to panic or worry too much until you know whether or not you have anything to worry about, easier said than done I know!

If it does turn out to be a malignant lump, rest assured that treatments for bc these days are very successful, both Jean Durant and I have survived so far...and whatever happens you will too.

Huge hugs

Dee

I have been to see the 'breast man' as he is known here in Wales twice with lumps in the past 4 years. I have had emergency mammograms about 6 times since I was 20. I am a lumpy person!

Mammograms when you first arrive in clinic, then a chat with the consultant as to whether he thinks the screening shows anything which might need further investigation.

Needle aspiration as Jax said in the first instance to examine the cells.

Have to remind you that 95% of the time lumps are benign.....

You will be surprised at how friendly everyone, staff and patients, are in clinic. They make you feel welcome from the first minute and try really hard to make clinic less clinical!!!!!

Try not to worry, I know how difficult it is but it's much better to get it checked as soon as possible.

I hope everything goes fine, good luck.

Hi,

Just wanted to agree with all of the above. The staff in this department are the best in the hospital (in my opinion) They completely understand how you are feeling and everything is done as quickly as possible with sensitivity and understanding.

I have had numerous cysts but each time they treat me the same, they never make me feel as though I am wasting their time and always do a thorough examination.

I too have a history of breast cancer in the family and it is reassuring to know that the system is there to protect you.

Hope all goes well for you, take care.

Jax in Wales Report 27 Apr 2008 20:18

Hi Jean i recently went through this luckily mine were just cysts

When I first went in the doctor had a quick chat asking me which breast i found it in, did i suffer any pain etc

then he examined me and gave me a scan which was the same sort of machine like they use when you are pregnant

At that point he found i was ok but from the info the breast clinic sent me they may also do a fine needle aspiration to take a sample, send you for a mammogram or a core biopsy in which you have to wait for the results.

I hope all goes well for you, will be thinking of you
