Good God Dee, how terrible both for you and the little one. I would imagine someone needs to check on the ethics of what the vet did; surely the babe should have had gas or something first.

Dee
Hope you are feeling a bit more positive this morning. The decision is an awful one to take but we only do it when we know it is right, hope you see that today and can rest easier

Thank you everyone, I'm more composed now.

I think the vet did things slightly wrong, but then I'm not a vet. Usually the injection goes into a vein in the leg or neck, because the puppy was small they can't do that so it has to be in the heart. Can you imagine how difficult that is to find as well. He ended up trying to find the right place about 8 times and used 3 lots of whatever it is. The puppy was screeching with the pain of it and it still took about 5 minutes to stop breathing. Looking back I think the puppy should of had some gas or something to knock it out first. We have another puppy who may have problems, we are leaving it until Tuesday to see if it improves, it's not in pain or anything, it might be blind, so we're waiting to see. I can't go through the same thing again and I'm not leaving the puppy, we will see. I will insist on some sedative first, but I'm hoping it won't come to that.

Dee
I have been through the same thing only recently and it is still very upsetting to think about, but at least it was done with lots of love and kindness, the vet was lovely and I looked right into Harveys eyes and talked to him until he slipped down and rested his head on my knee and he was gone, but it sounds as if your vet was not so caring.
At least puppy is not suffering now.
I truly feel for you
Pat.

Thank you lovely people, over the years I've had to have various cats and dogs put to sleep, yes it's sad and I cry, but I was not prepared for how the puppy was put to sleep. It was very unpleasant and very traumatic for the puppy. Gonna have to go, I'm gonna start crying again.

Dee

So sorry you have had to go through this, it is bad enough to get a dog put to sleep when their is nothing medically wrong with them as happened in my case (he bit me trying to lunge at my 10 day old daughter I was unable to trust him).
But when they are so small and vunerable it must be heart breaking.

Sending you (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))
You will get stronger day by day Dee I promise you, plus you have Barney and the others too.
