Hi all,

He is not disabled in any way and has walked home from the town centre (near to the train station) on days when he goes shopping.

Apparently he is talking of buying his own place but I bet it will be near the station!

My sister's son is 42 this year, still lives at home, pays nothing for his keep and she does all his washing, ironing and even buys his clothes. He doesn't know how to use the washing machine and is unable to cook a meal. He is single!!!! He earns good money as an HGV driver - she paid for the course - he is thousands of pounds in debt because he buys rubbish.

Daughter is 39, married, two children, works as a full time teacher in a comprehensive school. Husband is a refrigeration engineer. My sister cleans her house from top to bottom once a week, my brother in law does the gardening and the decorating. Sister does all the washing and ironing for them. The grandchildren are dropped off at my sister's every morning and she takes them to school. She picks them up at end of school, gives them their tea and often bathes them and puts them ready for bed - Mum and Dad collect them after work.

My sister sees nothing wrong in this at all - no wonder we no longer speak

OMG I've heard it all now, I don't even run about after my 10 year old like that, I make him walk.
He will never leave home and I thought that as parents we were to prepare our children for living in the world independently, bad parenting this.

... and no wonder he's still single! I know I couldn't date a guy who was mollycoddled to that degree, of that age!

Well let's put it this way...

No wonder he's still at home at 37....he probably doesn't know how to be independent.

Our next door neighbours have their son still at home. He is about 37 and single. He has a fairly new car which he bought when he passed his test about 3 years ago.

Every morning mum gives him a lift to the train station about a mile away or a 15 minute walk.

Every evening mum drives son's car to the station car park and leaves it for him to drive home about an hour later (only 1 hour of parking to be paid for or even use the short stay!). This car is followed by dad who then drives mum home.

Why don't they wait for nearer the time his trian comes in an just go and pick him up? It would save on fuel at least.

Jacky :-)
