Hi Errol
Yes, tried all the above but I have also trawled through the yahoo help and found the answer. It is as you said in the beginning, If you want to send mail via another provider you have to pay 20 dollars a year. So I wont be doing that, will send via the web site. Might even switch to Gmail as that can be sent via windows mail because OH has it.

Thanks again for your help.

We can send on Beeb and blueyonder and OH can send on Gmail. neither of us (we both have windows mail/Vista,) can send from Yahoo on windows mail. We can send and receive on yahoo on the web site.

Thank you Errol, I will wait until OH comes in and do it, will let you know how we get on, thank you for your help.

Joy, I can access it via the web site but want it on Windows mail as I have more than one e mail address and it is easier to access them all together.

1. Make sure YPops is running and open Windows Mail.
2. From theWindows Mail Tools menu select Accounts.
3. Click on Add.
4. Highlight "E-mail Account" and Click Next.
5. Type your name and click Next.
6. Enter your Yahoo! Mail address under E-mail address.
7. Click Next.
8. Make sure POP3 is selected under Incoming e-mail.
9. Enter "localhost" (no space) under Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server.
10. If you find "localhost" doesn't work try "127.0.0.1" instead.
11. Type "localhost" under Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP).
12. If you find "localhost" doesn't work try again try "127.0.0.1" for this option as well.
13. Click Next.
14. Under E-mail username type your Yahoo! Mail user name which is your email address without the "@yahoo.com".
15. Type your Yahoo! Mail password under Password.
16. Click Next.
17. Click Finish.
18. Click Close.

First off you need to download and install YPops from:

http://ypopsemail.com/download

It may be wise to create a System Restore point before you do anything.

Let me know if you want to know how to set it up with the third party software - note that as far as I know it only works with the Classic version of Yahoo Mail

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Apr 2008 13:01

thank you Errol, we suspected that as Di (few posts back) said that she is no longer able to send her yahoo via BT. But why can I receive mail? I would have thought it was all or nothing. Yes it is Vista

I may be wrong but I THINK you can only use Windows Mail (I am assuming you are using Vista) to access Yahho Mail if you pay for the Plus version.

There is a way around this if you install extra third party free software if you want to go down that route.

I added this to my other thread but in case nobody checks that one.

I have managed to add the yahoo address to my windows mail accounts. Now I can receive mail on Yahoo but can't send it. I can send on yahoo's web site though.

any ideas. Is Windows mail blocking me sending or would it be Blueyonder our ISP?

Di, thank you, that could be the answer. what we have now done is to set up yahoo with a permanent forwarding instruction to our other e mail address.

Ann
Until Tuesday this week I could access my emails via outlook using BT/Yahoo as my broadband isp. I have now had to access my emails via the yahoo site as according to BT tech support I spoke to they no longer support Outlook.
