fried eggs reminds me of my daddy when I was a child...
Sunday after church we would have a big breakfast
I would eat all my breakfast, and leave the egg for last.... and he would reach over and stick his knife in it and
*smash it*..... Don't know why I did it I just enjoyed it at the end... must have had my reasons, but he loved to see my upset. ;-0)

Chicken soup.... my mum, I can't make it properly and my son loved it.

Blackcurrant and apple pies.... my ex MIL.
She made these amazing pies, and served them with Carnation milk.... delicious.... her very best asset!

My eldest son loves that too, yorkshire pud with jam.

It is only a thick pancake if you think about it.

Once you get started on this, it could go on forever couldn't it?

You have all given me a reminder of something and someone.

Gin and Orange- can't stand the stuff these days, because it reminds me of castor oil and orange juice. In my day, it was the 'remedy' used to bring on labour, you know, when you got to that last week, and you felt, and looked like a house side, and yes yer b*m looked and was big in anything and everything. It never worked,at least not for me. So, it reminds me of my first three children.

Now you see.... we had a gooseberry bush in Germany when I was about 6-7, and my little sister and I used to eat them straight off the bush. My mum used to do pies and puddings.....

See what I mean Pink..... everything reminds me of someone or something...
This thread could go on forever....

Pink - now I come to think about it, I had an aunt who used to stuff marrows with sausage meat. Me, I stuffed mine with brown sugar, and made rum.

We used to have marrow stuffed with sausage meat, but now there is only us two 'old uns'. I stuff corgettes the same.

Deanna

Deanna Report 20 Apr 2008 15:41

I stuff mine (marrows) with chopped veg, onions, carrots cabbage, peppers, anything you like, diced bacon, some parboiled rice, put it all in a pot with a little oil. steam down a bit.... then add a tin of chopped tomatoes.

Fill the Marrow, and place par boiled potatoes around it in the roasting tin. wrap a piece of tin foil over the top put in the oven.

Now Kitty , this is where you lose me.... because i just put it in, and at quite a high heat, lower it when I think it needs it, and take the tin foil off to brown the top of the potatoes.....
I'm no help to you love.... I've been a *bung it in* cook all my life. You just get to know!!
But it is lovely.
