Ros, we stayed at a Travelodge fairly near King's Cross and it was a nice, clean one. It's under London Farringdon.

I`ve looked at hotel -looks nice. It`s difficult to decide where to stay as Craig , my grandson is 12 and I would like to take him somewhere decent,

Its the other side of the river - literally on the river - not far from the Globe if you want to site see and the Milleneium Bridge.

To get to Euston its one Tube no changes on the Northern Line I think its about 6 stops from memory which would be about a 15 min tube ride.

I left London 3 or 4 years ago but I am sure a current Londoner can confirm if my timings are right or if there are any changes on the tube.

i've stayed at the Holiday Inn in Kensington. was a couple of years ago now but it was ideal. We were going to the Albert Hall for the Disney Channel awards. hotel was central and the room we were in was not at all noisy.....lovely gardens at the back.rooms were clean and food was good.

we would certainly stay there again,

If you have ever been in the military, the military reserve or the emergency services you can join the Union Jack Club and stay in central London (SE1) for £104 a night (family room 2 adults and 2 children up to 12 years). Failing that pop into a travel agent and pick up one of those Superbreak brochures they usually do good deals on London hotels, especially at weekends when they tend to be quieter

You can get some good deals on Thistle Hotels too. I stayed in one on Buckingham Palace Rd last year, when I went down to see a show.

I booked it all separetly on the internet and got tickets to see Billy and 2 nights in the hotel and it all came in at under a hundred quid per person (the show tickets were over half of that).

Location was perfect for the theatre and a wonder round Buckyhouse and the parks, we also went to see the lights (it was winter) Oxford and Regent St, Piccadily etc ....went with freinds.

Parking however was really expensive.

May be too far out for you (though the Underground makes a lot of London closer than you think) but some years ago my husband and I took his class of 10/11 year olds to London and stayed in the youth hostel in Rotherhithe.

It was very good then and (assuming it is still the same) that makes a good inexpensive place to stay for anyone.
