I am fed up with seeing millions of our money beiing sent to Africa and nothing changes.

Send Geldof to sort it out, he seems to know all about these things , i dont think

As the African Nations refuse to do anything about the situation can you imagine if we went in. The whites invading African again all nations would condem us. We do send millions of pounds to African countries and on Friday night ITV2 American Pop Idol appeal Gordon Brown said he was giving £200 million of our money to Africa. I remember when he was Chancellor he gave 35 million to one African country and the President there bought himself a new jumbo jet.

Sorry if this offends but we need to get our own country sorted 1,000's of pensioners dying each winter, people dying through lack of funds for their treatment and these are people who have paid into this countries coffers. It must be very upsetting when you are told no and then watch millions being sent abroad.
As I said sorry if it offends but I am entitled to my opinion. Charity begins at home so sort out our own folk first.

The reason the UN cant help is coz its run out of world supplies .....

with all the problems in the world supplies have run short and there are NO tents left coz they were sent to Pakistan when they had problems so re-buying and makingv this emergence stuff takes time ......

If the UN can't do anything why the hell do they exist?

As much as individuals we would like to help we are powerless as is our government. We are not the worlds policeman.... that is what the UN is supposed to exist for.

While I'm on my soapbox and going off topic a little...why do we belong to a Euopean Community where the UK is the only country that seems to help others. It's about time Euope stood up and was counted and if the UN can't help perhaps a united Euope could.

In the meantime Mugabe refuses to relinquish power even though it would appear he lost the election. I understand there is now going to be a 'secret' recount in specific areas.
I wonder why(((((((((:

Kemp, I was seriously going to say that's food for thought, then thought what a stupid thing that would be to say.
But yes, it's a timely reminder to us all.

It has just been anounced that the UN cant cope with the level of starvation coz of the amount of people in need of food .....this is due to Bio-fuels put in place by the US ..........so Food prices are increasing and therefore the UN cant afford to buy it to pass to poor countrys

GUESS what if we all SHARED ....lifes problems would go away ......

So next time YOU WANT ............do THINK

I have rellies who were in Zimbabwe, now living in Ireland.
Some black friends and white friends that are in UK as they had everything taken away from them in Zimbabwe,

All think Nelson Mandala was great in South Africa, what a pity he could not have sorted it out.

Where are you suggesting the un get the troops from lass?.
They are overstretched already with operations in Iraq, the Balkons and many other places. It would help if france ,belgium and a few other countries would supply troops as well, but they can't,or wont.

oh. Mugabe has now said he's not going to Zambia, so that idea is out of the window! he's also told other african nations to mind their own business and that tsvangirai (sp?) must not meet other leaders.

Not invasion necessarily, but if the UN weren't toothless and afraid of their own shadow, then they could send a force in to ensure free and fair elections, ensure the results are announced immediately and ensure a smooth transition to a democratic government.

If the regime were to change then sanctions would be lifted and the aid agencies could go in and ensure fair distribution of food and medicines.

Of course, if Mugabe does go to this conference in Zambia, then maybe he could be prevented from returning to Zimbabwe (don't ask me how, I'm just a housewife lol) and just maybe the army/police would shift their loyalties to the new regime.

All very idealistic I know. I fear that things have been left for far too long and if action were decided upon then it would take so long to begin that many more lives would be lost before some start to be saved :-(

Thanks for all your replies.
I agree the U.N are a waste of space, they never do anything positive from what I have seen,Infact I dont know what their there for:-((

We need a better governing body for all the people,at the moment it just seems like the more powerful and wealthy a country is the more they can manipulate, its sad but true.
it is shameful:-((
