According to the T&C's

"Genes Reunited reserves the right to change the amount of the Full Membership fee, the period which it covers, and the Core and non-Core Services from time to time. Any such changes shall not affect any existing Full Membership, and shall only take effect at the renewal of such Full Membership.

You acknowledge that we are entitled to alter the amount or the basis of the calculation of our fees from time to time, provided that such amount or basis is clearly stated at the time when you agree to take the relevant Genes Reunited Service or prior to any fees being taken. "

I think they've covered all the points raised in this thread................:(

I agree a 2 tier system is unfair, but it seems they can charge members different rates.

About a year ago, it was discovered that some people were paying £7-50, and others £9-95 for annual subscription.
I emailed GR to ask how much renewal would be and was told it would be £9-95. When the renew notification appeared, I clicked on it to see £7-50, so renewed at that amount. I remember reading soon after then that GR had advised someone that there are special promotion renewals at times.
For no logical reason that I can find, it appears that new members (since February last year?) are charged £9-95 for six months; also, that if a paid membership lapses, and the member decides to be a paying member again, then that membership is treated as a new one and the person has to pay six-monthly.

I initially had a theory that it depended on how long you've been a member of Genes, but I think thats been proved wrong now. So how do they pick and choose who gets 6 months, who gets 12? They probably sit round a coffee table with their voddy and cokes going 'Ooh I dont like her, give her 6 months', and 'Ooh he's a bit of alright, give him a 12!'.

Or had I better retract that or I'll be relegated to a 6!!

When i 1st joined it was £5.00, then went to £7.50 and last year £9.95

Renewed on 26/3. £9.95. Receipt says all services available until 26/03/2009

hello all , i just looked and mine is for 12 months, but I,m think i paid $ 19.oo australian, does anyone know what that is in pounds.........?????? and i just remewed ine about 2 weeks ago

Why is it when you renew, they send you a reciept and say you are a Full Member, yet if you want to view Census and other things alike they want more money?????????
