Ok Errol ta! have just been on to the tools and audio/video and can bring up my own picture so perhaps it's at the Can. end that has the problem? I'm going to try and get through again now and will see if it can be sorted thanks everyone for trying to help ....................May come back though lol!

If you both have Skype then it is free.

I think it's still a free service once you're set up. The big thing is to NEVER sign up for any extra services for them cos they do cost.

Yes Windows XP and have just been on the help bit and got the version I'm on so will check with Can. also it says everything's up and running .
That's interesting Sally might have to try and get them to go on to Skype but do they have to pay for it over there? they seem to think so?

No - you weren't being flippant. Do you mean it is the Windows firewall and if so is it Windows XP?

My lot in Canada always have trouble with MSN and end up taking it off their comps.
Skype worked quite well till my brother's PC had a nervous breakdown.

It depends which firewall you are running.

Ok everyone thanks but what do I check for on my firewall and ( shh) where do I find it please! Oh the Skype went down hence the short call lol!

Steve I don't think the set up wizard has a bearing on the other person's ability to see you. It is a localised thing. It is the other person who needs to check their settings, including firewall.

Nolls

You may need to run the MSN video set up wizard if you have not done so

on your friends list (not the chat window) click tools

then audio and video set up and follow the instructions

In MSN or Windows Live Messenger as it is now called, click on Help and then About Messenger and it will tell you which version it is.
Also check firewall settings.
