If the step uncle wanted to help Shannon, surely he would have taken her to the police?

As for stepfathers, don't tar them all with the same brush. My daughter's partner is 5 years younger than her and is 'second daddy' to my grand daughter. If he was her real father he would have been 16 when she was conceived!!!
Daughter and partner worked together and age didn't come into it until his 21st birthday!! lol
However, he loves both my daughter and grand daughte and protects her like she was his own, as do all his family. As for any 'funny business, I can assure you, my grand daughter is no victim and tells me everything!!!!

Well regardless of what has happened to that poor girl even if the step dad has don nothing to her he should be locked up for looking at children. string him up and chop it off hands aswell.
Im sure if this woman knew what this chap was like she wouldnt have been with him , how on earth can anyone tell who a sex pest is ?
and im sure if her children have different dads well thats not just her fault men do usually put them there.
im just glad shannon is safe and they have got the step dad and uncle ..

Kay I think perhaps we should leave it at that, if it isn't up for discussion then it shouldn't be in the media.

But I still think the mother needs help which she will undoubtedly get from S Services. she needs to understand how paedophiles work or she will always be putting her children at risk.

I said at the start all this stepfather business was sus, the way the couple spoke about him as if they were married, and he kept saying he loved her, the mother even said come home me and your dad love you, and I didn't think she was referring to Shannon's real dad. That lad which is all he is, is not her stepdad, he is just her mother's boyfriend!!! I felt he was too young to be with a woman with so many children, not a good example to any of the children is she? I wonder if Shannon's mother will be allowed to keep the rest of the children with her now, altho obviously the boyfriend won't be allowed back to live with her, I am sure.
I am not knocking single mums as I am one, but I was very careful not to get involved with any one else and have another child, much as I wanted one, when my son was small in case things didn't work out. I didn't want him to have a succession of 'uncles' or 'stepdads'
Poor Shannon. One report said someone saw her sitting on a wall crying, maybe the abductor came by and saw her and took pity on her, but took advantage of the fact she was alone to take her. On the other hand if he knew what his nephew was like and Shannon hinted there were things wrong, he might well have felt he was protecting her and helping this come out in the open.
Only time will tell but I hope Shannon can go to her real Dad's now and be happy.

Kay if we aren't in a position to question Shannons mothers lifestylewhich I see no problem in doing so, how on earth can we be in a position to know whether or not the step uncle was in a position of knowing the moral conduct of his nephew?

I think it all stinks and theres more going on here than we are led to believe.
If the BBC are correct in saying that the said step father has downloaded pornographic pictures of children then he deserves all he gets.

Perhaps the mother could do with some help in understanding how paedophiles work and what signs to look out for before she moves some other man into her home she shares with her children.

Didn't Shannon say that she wasn't happy at home to a school friend?
There had to be a reason why Shannon was not allowed more contact with her family
It does seem a very disfunctional family too.
Guess the police are not allowed to give out all info till it is thoroughly checked.

The mother has had reportedly 7 children by 5 different fathers and three of these children are being raised by their father. I found that strange in the first place - do not get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a father raising his own child - but it is unusual and at the time I wondered why, given that the mother still had children with her. Those fathers must be so thankful they took their child. Shannon's father is raising Shannon's brother perhaps he will now take Shannon.

Just watched *Look North* which is for our region Yorkshire.

And as far as I know the police haven't said anyhing about who's children's images were on the computer.

Seems from the BBC news website, that this 22 yr old step father has been living in the house with Shannons mum who's 32 for the past 5 years! that makes him 17 at the time and her 27, nothing wrong in that age wise apart from I wouldn't want a 17 year old acting as father to my kids, perhaps I have a completely different idea about how to parent my kids to Shannons mother.


The fact the guy hadn't downloaded porn pics of Shannon is still a worry because he's downloaded someone elses kids pics.
It's been all too obvious from the start that there was something seriously wrong with this family circle.

but let all those parents whose children have been affected by paedophiles let llose on them first.

These single mums have to be careful of who they meet and take home.

There are so many pervs out there, and the mums think they are really kind to their children, and think they have meet another man to take care of them all, and all they men want is to get at the children.

I know not always the case, but you must beware when you have children.

how awful, just so very dicey, it didnt look right, as long as Shannon is getting right care thats all that matters now.

Don't think the step uncle was protecting Shannon as the police would have let him go by now if that was the case.

He is still in custody.
and as for the step father can't put on here what I would do with all men that download images of children and men who abuse children.
