It may have been an assumption made by someone when I went up to personnel on Thursday morning...I did say I've had a summons, but it was a flippant remark said with a grin as I walked out of the door. I can only imagine this is where it came from.

go see your boss and say you believe theres a problem
youve been led to believe that you have made an erroro in some way and woulkd like to clarify what that error if any is,
see what she says

maybe mischief making on someones part, but dont let it eat into you

I think your OH's advice is good. Get it out in the open with the Manager and find out if it was said and if it was.... why. If it was not said........then it's best to be aware that there is a back stabber about and keep your eyes peeled for who it is. There's always one in every organisation that gets eaten up by the green eyed monster..xx

Hayley, its chinese whispers, but what if I do nothing, and later another rumour is started, they will remmeber the first one.

My Colleague wouldn't name the person who told her, rightly so, as it was said in confidence.

This may sound petty to some, but here is the situation...

When I started my job in December, the company was in the process of restructuring. This meant some voluntary redundancies, which took place through February and March. New staff were taken on to fill the new job roles (not mine, mine already existed and the guy who did it before was sacked).

Now some of the new staff are leaving because they are disillutioned, and lately I have been too. I don't know if it is down to the department manager or to the rest of the company. There are still plenty of long serving emplyees who are very resistant to change in any way, but without it the company will eventually be on its knees.

Last Thursday I was asked to the personnel office to give my honest opinion on whether I thought there was something amiss in the department. This I did and it was in confidence.

However today, I am told by a colleague that another colleague told her that the manager told HER that she has had to give me a written warning. Now thats all I know, but whats the best way to handle it?

My OH says I shoudl first go to personnel and just state that this has been said, then have it out with the manager to put her in the picture (and to stop any backstabbing if she really did say that). But I woudl welcome any other opinions.

Since I have been there I have tried to do my job to the best of my ability, doing extra duties where needed, and I feel this is someone trying to sully my reputation.
