I always use a cloth if the children are here (young and old), I have a table protector (foam) which I put under the cloth. have quite a problem getting cloths for mine as it is a large oblong (very large when extended. My large ones come from the states.

I've bought several large cotton damask table cloths from our local charity shops. Well worth checking out any near you.

I've got an oval table that extends to sit 10 and two of my 'bargain' table cloths fit wonderfully.

Why not ( as suggested )use a White Sheet to cover the table,then lay your table cloth "Diagonally" on the top of it.**M**.

Actually, the bloke next door has a restaurant and all the table cloths are on the washing line at the moment. They're too small for my table but maybe I could wonderweb a few together! lol

Joy....even the runners are too short for my table, but Mum made me a couple with some material from Ikea

I use single sheets on my table when it is fully extended, lol..... and then tart it up with whatever is to hand!

Awww thanks Mary.....I used to have a real nice one I bought when we were on holiday in Spain, but I chucked it out cos I thought I'd never use it again

Island and Joy....good idea! And the wonderweb stuff for the ends cos I don't have a sewing machine.

There's a Tony's Textiles down the road and a few charity shops in the same area so I'll be off there tomorrow then

Have you tried the second had shops Jeanette. As it is to be Saturday there is not much time to suggest anywhere else.

Out of fashion?.....never!.....use one all the time.....well, whenever we have company that is.....and always when the children are about.....wouldn't trust them with not scratching the table :-)

Try the thrift shops, often lots of "estate" linens there which just need wash and iron.
if you'd given a bit more notice I could have sent you one!!!!

I know they're probably out of fashion but I need one.

I've got friends coming over for a meal on Saturday night and my table top isn't quite up to scratch so I wanted to cover it with a cloth. The only ones I've seen in town are 180cm long and my table is 2m. Does anyone know where I get get a big one from?
