Did your mother have an early menopause? Mine did and both my sister and myself had early ones too.

I never had hot flushes but did have terrible mood swings - was like having PMT but all the time.

Dawnie - not definite!

Mine have gone haywire (sometimes months, sometimes days in between!) - I had a blood test last year but it was indeterminate - I'm 46.

Mine stopped completely when I was about 41. It took me several months to notice though! (Never had particularly heavy periods anyway.)

So, I was 42 when I went to the doctors and she did a blood test to confirm it.

I started early - age about 10 and assumed that was why I finished early so it's interesting to read Ann's comments.

My sister went through it at about 42 as well.

I never had any other symptoms. And now, post-menopausal I am cold all the time. Very rarely get hot at night. I just take advantage of the fact that I am post-menopausal and blame every bad mood, every slip of the tongue, every forgetful moment on my hormones - it's great.

If you wanted to be sure, a blood test can determine if you are in the pre-menopausal stages as it measures the various hormone levels etc.

Hi Dawn

I have several friends who where in the early 40 's when they started, so mention it to your DR when you go :O)

could well be I suppose - you usually finish early if you started late. I had nearly left school when I started and therefore finished at 50!!

Now I know I am only 41 (well will be in a couple of weeks) so early for menopause but is it common for periods to just get further apart without any other symptons of menopause.

I know I have changed medication for my FM but that was changed after I was overdue so shouldnt of affected it.

Usually have a long cycle of 36 - 42ish days, got caught out a few months back when it was only 28 days, but this time has gone to 60 days

Now am I just hoping that it is coming to an end or is it possible?

Have to see Dr in a month for check up on my meds so will mention it then but just wondered what other people thought.

D xx
