Hello Harry, hope you are keeping well. In the Sun paper today were some awful facts about soldiers that had died when they may not have needed to because of poor equipment etc. I felt like saying well fetch them all home and let other countries fight their own battles. Then I thought of all the money footballers and pop singers get. Our country is so topsy turvy before long we will be drowning in our own problems. It's about time we put our people first I think we have done our bit for others.

Then I go and see the pictures of children with no clean water

Tough call
Janet

I agree with you 100% Harry....................in times of a disaster, such as an earthquake or the tsunami, I don't worry, but we have so much that needs doing at home too.

We still have far too many pensioners and children living in poverty.................also people with disabilities having to go without, or calling for donations to get a decent wheelchair etc......... is a national disgrace.

Pat...................my Mum is one of those..........an Alzheimers sufferer, so not classed as having a disability in need of nursing care, or a terminal illness, so pays 100% of her fees to the home.

As Alzheimers is caused by the brain dying rapidly.............how is that not terminal??

I agree whole heartedly, we are good at giving to others, but our elderly who have paid into the system all their lives have to sell their houses to pay to be looked after.

Harry, We should put our own house in order before we start dishing out to all and sundry, then and only then can we afford to be generous to others.**M**.

I only half believe the heading but I think we are mugs in this country.
Armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, 4 billion a year (so many other countries don,t contribute at all or very little).

To Europe , apparently 4 billion each year more than we receive.

Loads of other smaller ones. (millions in benefits to children in poland as an example)
By all means help the needy, and do our share of good, but some of the deserving live in this country.

Happy days
