So, just thinking..............why not offer the prize of the survey as a years membershp?
Everyone would benefit then.

Night night,

Carol you must get better deals on the east coast.

By the way - If you want to get to Vancouver, you don't need a ferry. Just get on the I 5 and head north. Maybe you are thinking about Vancouver Island??
Vancouver is on the mainland. We are 2.5 hours north of Seattle.
It should take you about 3.0 hours from Vancouver,Washington

I'll meet you half way?

Even with taxes Deb, it,s still cheaper. I,m flying with Globespan this time and business class is actually cheaper than American Airlines "cattle class" was 2 years ago.

Deb, I have not long returned from driving with my daughter out to Oregon. She,s living in portland but working in Vancouver, Washington. She,s promised me that she will stay out there long enough for me to take a proper holiday ...so i can take the ferry over to BC. I,ll give you plenty of warning before I arrive.lol

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 23 Feb 2008 04:12

Carol - how do you figure flying from Canada is cheaper than from the States?

We flew to Vegas from Seattle last month - $79 each way! From Vancouver it was a LOT more...........we have all those nasty taxes.

Has anyone ever tried our BC wines?

We went on two tours last summer to our wine counrty. We had a wonderful time on both occasions. We must have visited over 40 wineries.

We took our daughter, her friends, and boyfriend (over from Oz).
Daughter and boyfriend are on a "wine tasting" weekend over Perth way. (I remembered this as I called her 20 mins ago with no answer).

Maybe I should start a wine appreciation thread.

Dunno about raking in millions, there was a report in the paper about how BSkyB who own a fair share of ITV have lost a millions since they bought their shares. They blame the monopolies people who've told them they have to reduce their number of shares to 7% of the company.

Lol Deb. I was thinking of using my Moms addy but like Lindsey just said, she wouldn,t like all that extra paper thru her mail box.lol. A free flight would be a lovely idea......I,m already flying home via Canada.

Carol - I'm sure that the good people of Genes will keep it on ice for you - (but not the red, as it needs to be room temp.)

A free flight draw for international members would be nice wouldn't it? Maybe I should suggest this to the powers that be. After all they rake in Millions.

Just thinking - I can fill out the survey and put my Auntys address down!

lol, Deb, you do right, I guess it's like the booze trips to france that the brits make.

I don't really like wine that much, but the muscato was delicious, very fruity. It was great after the pear wine my sis in law had made (nearly blew my head off and I only had a couple of sips) not that you could tell there was pears in it lol. Usually when the others have wine I drink Schloer and pretend lol.

Hello Scribe.
I am partial to Australian wine. Hubby has just within the last 10 mins arrived home with a nice bottle of red for me.

I was given a French wine at christmas called "Red Bicyclette". I don't usually drink French wine - but I enjoyed this one. Here the cost is $15.99 a bottle, down in Seattle it cost me $7.99.
Heading back down there in a few weeks to enjoy more "cheap" wine :))

Susan719813 Report 23 Feb 2008 03:49

but you could always do as I do with junk mail.....just write on it return to sender and pop it back in the post-box

Hi Deb, I didn,t see the "blurb" either but I,m just having a think here. I,m going to England this summer so, if i win, couldn,t GR just keep it "on ice" for me? lol

 Lindsey*

Lindsey* Report 23 Feb 2008 03:47

If it was Proper there would be a finishing date, the fact that its a "survey" means its for our address, as they would only ask for email address for contact?

They dont want your addresses cos your foreign, and it would cost too much to send you all the junk mail!!!!

~Summer Scribe~ Report 23 Feb 2008 03:44

I had a very nice australian muscato at christmas by brown brothers.

I hadn't seen the survey either, didn't exactly make it prominent did they? I've completed it but not filled in my home details as what would I do with a crate of plonk when I rarely drink? lol.

Deb Vancouver (18665)

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 23 Feb 2008 03:42

***hmmm - wonders if it will be worth spending $1000 to go over there and drink plonk?******

Yep!

You are in the UK aren't you - if not it will cost me more to fly to Australia!
Wouldn't our daughter be surprised if that's the case and I ring her door bell :)))

I was thinking along the same lines Lindsey.
Only differnce is, when I saw I wasn't able to win the wine, I didn't submit my answers.

Wonder how many others "overseas" did the same?
