I am glad some of you see where I am coming from with my thoughts, this isn't a set up as we know it I am sure. Look at some of the programmes we see on tv of how others live, a totally different way of life completely, no council housing or social security payments as we know them, probably.
Let's hope all those babies grow into a healthy and useful adulthood and that the poor girl gets a chance of a decent life too, she will certainly have her hands full for the next few years especially if the grandmother can't help so much as she gets older. I wonder what the life expectancy is in that area?

I agree about the house being built with her etc. But then, you could see it from another viewpoint that they probably haven't got the issues we have here with benefits, people scamming the system etc - they rally around and help their community when they need it.

Years ago it might have been common but she wouldn't have got a house built for her, would she? The father(s) should be held accountable.

Here in Plymouth we had an 11 year old get pregnant - now THAT is way too young!!!

Laura

Laura Report 22 Feb 2008 23:18

do you think we should be jumping to conclusions about fathers and so on? If she's in a village in the middle of Argentina, away from 'civilisation' a bit, more tribal/traditional than other areas - who are we to judge?

Yes maybe there should be more info about contraception (again though, being roman catholic they may not want that), no I don't think it's good for her or necessarily the kids, but sometimes this happens! Who are we to judge? Are we all perfect? I very much doubt it...

Is it one father or many? Or dont' we know?
If she was older would everyone be so quick to judge her having so many in such a quick time?

Don't forget, years ago it was quite common to start a family at 14....

Liz well put, seems there is a lack of information here, wonder what's the birth rate among other teenage girls in that area of Argentina? Seems to me if she's got 4 kids at 16, she didn't have time to go out looking for a romp in the hay, her hands are full at home. Is she being abused/molested within her home, perhaps, who is the father . . . . if (some)fathers in our so-called civilised society can avoid their responsibilities towards their children, how much more likely would it be where few rules seem to exist??
She'll be at risk of uterine rupture if this keeps up. Who is there to protect her?

Whatever her circumstances, I can't help but feel sorry for her and her family.

The girl is barely out of her own childhood.

Anne that went through my mind too.

Kitty maybe abstinence for the rest of her life would be a better choice lol

Seriously though I have to agree with what Liz says....we don't know the full story here, only what the papers want to tell us.

i had children young not as young as that tbho, but anyone would surely think to them selves 1 lot of triplets then maybe i have got a higher chance of having more triplets and waited till there older, unless they did it to get a house and benefits like some familys do.

I can see where you are all coming from but this is a remote town, it may be that the girl would be classed as special needs here - stop laughing you lot - but I think the powers that be need to look into this further. Is the father the same for all the children, does he participate in their upbringing in any way, is there any history of abuse, i.e. older men in the community who have co erced her into sex? Lots of issues that aren't explained in a news item. I hope all the family get the right kind of help, sounds as tho the grandmother is running herself into the ground trying to help, and she may well have other children to look after herself.
