Another reason for not allowing cyclist on pavements, what about the poor toddler who uses those pavements, they are children as well.

Reason for NOT allowing cyclists on pavements:

So that people like myself with a disability making them unsteady on their feet can move in safety. I have enough trouble coping with some pedestrians, I'd probably stop going out if I had to contend with cyclists on the pavements as well.

Good cyclists....................yes, but they should have insurance, all other road users have to...........I think.

Cyclists rule ok.

Its about time the law was changed, to protect the vunerable cyclists.

Why dont children cycle to school, answer, to dangerous.
Why do people jump into a car for short journeys instead of getting on a bike, answer to dangerous.

Ed, many sensor traffic lights (that I've seen) take the cyclist off around them...if they choose to follow the cycle path!

As I say, you should have to take a compulsory test to ride a cycle. When I was a kid we all knew how to ride safely, how to indicate, what lights go on the bike. Then when the blinking lights came out that they go on the body not the bike. Many cyclists are inadvertently illegally wearing those lights that blink as they're putting them on the bike. They're not a substitute for proper bike lights.

Reasons for allowing cyclists on to pavements.

Drivers using mobile phones.
Speeding drivers.
Dangerous rounabouts and junctions.
Drivers reading maps while driving.
Large potholes in roads.

i can see both sides. but Some (andi know it's not all) cyclists are dangerous to drivers and pedestrians.i think it should be a line paintwed down middle of path like in some places. the number of times i have seen a cyclist skip a red light only to almost crash into a pedestrian crossing is ridiculous.

I have nothing agaisnt cyclist but think they should have proper insurance before being allowed on roads or cycle lanes, more so after one tried to underpass me and scratched and dented the side of my car.

I would extend that insurance to the mobility scooters to myself, they go at one heck of a speed and quite dangerous amongst pedestrians.

its mainly youngesters in towns who use bikes ,maybe under 20? but some younger than that are not pavement mannered to be useing them,,

we have cycle paths painted green on the inside of some roads round here, which is perfect...... until cars park on them, and you have to cycle round it,

i have even been forced onto the pavement when a bus pulled into the bus stop as i was going past it !!!!
i do admit to cycling on the pavements on main roads for my own safety, but i do cycle at an acceptable speed, & always give pedestrians the right of way......

How many pedestrians get killed by cyclists, none.
How many cyclists get splattered and killed by dangerous drivers, lots.

Some cyclists have to break the law because certain things are only designed for cars, one example is sensors at traffic lights, sometimes they dont detect cyclists so the light stays on red

How about allowing them to use pavements if they pay some kind of cycle tax
