How strange Ann... my grandmother always said she could trace her family back to Oliver Cromwell... haven't got that far back yet, but a lot of her side definitely come from the same general area, just a bit later, that's all!!

Not directly BUT my uncle by marriage into my family, is supposed to be a direct descendant of the Vicrorian Newcastle murderess Mary Cotton!!! Haven't actually found evidence to support the claim though and not sure whether I really want too!!! lol

Yes, on my dad's maternal side. Sir John (Jack) Berry Hobbs the cricketer. He was my dad's second cousin.

I used the free trial on Ancestry!!!! They have my grandmother related to J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan), Catherine the Great of Russia and several other famous folk!!!!

I've found none of them in my research!!!
