Jean I lived Near Monmouth until about 20 years ago. I spent a lot of time working and socialising there.
Yes I don't get visitors anymore (wonders why) and another thing we don't get anymore is postcards !
My son just went on holiday and I said send me a postcard when you get there. he sent me a text instead !

I,m glad I am not the only one to feel this way. The other thing I hate is that the tele stays on whoever calls, as if to say ,go away I'm missing my programme. First time I saw Monmouth at age 5 was arriving at Troy station as an evacuee. Troy has changed, there are houses there now.Jean

Hello Jean:o))

You know l'm in the area:o))

How nice of them to call on you, you ought to try and take them up and visit them - if your oh has too much to do, how about he drops you off and then calls back??

l know what you mean though - my nan always had visitors, was always making cakes. when mine were little we visited her and the inlaws and me mum - sat around tables for Sunday roasts or salmon sarnies for tea :o))

Monmouth is changing, although it is still a lovely town:o)) shame about the new visitors centre, it would be much more sensible to use the Shirehall - they are about to spend alot of money doing it up!! The carparks down by the old bridge will be sorely missed, as with most towns we don't have enough parking spaces now!! l hated it when they knocked down the old market buildings etc
Did you see the old pictures of railway stations in newspaper recently?? Troy was one, bet that was lovely all round there then.
You take care:o)

jude sarf wales :o)

Sorry, but Monmouth is changing out of all recognition. The latest is a proposal to build a ?visitor centre at the Monnow bridge end of town and turn it into a square where events can be held, taking all the interest from the square at the Shire Hall where it has always been. Jean

I have been feeling that no one visits us, or only if they want something do they call. My sister lives opposite and can walk up the rd, climb the steps to a neighbour, but hasnt been in my house for 3yrs. Cmplains of neglect if I dont go there most days. Any way, this afternoon a young man who went to school with our late son brought his young family to see us to thank me for knitting a cardigan for the baby. The little ones had al ovely time turning eveything upside down, watching our fish tanks and generally making themselves at home. I cant tell you how much better I feel. We have also been invited to call there any weekend if I can get OH out of the shed long enough! Jean
